The new season of Skeem Saam
started this month and with it comes the usual exits and entrances that characterise new seasons.

signed out at the end of Season 8 and Season 9 sees the arrival of singer and actress Candy "Tsa Mandebele" Mokwena, who we last saw as Dayina on Giyani - Land of Blood.
Candy plays Bafedile, a feisty 50-something-year-old woman who left Turfloop over 10 years ago to escape an abusive marriage.
She feared for her life and fled.
And now she's back.
Why?

Her return surprises the residents of Turfloop in more ways than one because she's packing bucks after stumbling onto a gold mine.
This is what Candy has to say about her new role:
Candy: “We share the same age, that’s one of the many traits that Bafedile and I have in common. And because we have so much in common, it was easy for me to relate to her and embody her character.
"I don’t even know where to begin in expressing my gratitude for this opportunity that I have been given. Skeem Saam is one of the biggest shows in the country and for me to be a part of it is truly amazing!”
She debuts on Wednesday, 19 August 2020.
