Renewed!

A second season of Dinner Date SA has been ordered by BBC Studios, with a different set-up from Season 1.

The first season debuted on SABC3 in 2017 with a rebroadcast on BBC Lifestyle earlier this year. This time round the tables are turned.

Season 2 debuts on BBC Lifestyle in early 2020 and the rebroadcast only airs on SABC3 in late 2020. Guess who's paying for dinner. NOT the SABC that's for shizz.

The new season will be produced by Quizzical Pictures again and the search is on for more singles.

If you're solo and keen to apply, this is what you need to know:

The format

Each episode follows one person who is given the chance to find potential love over three meals, each cooked by a blind date in their own home.

The person must choose three menus from five, put together by prospective partners. They then go on three dates with the “chefs”, who cook them a meal in their own homes.

After the three dates, all the chefs prepare for a night out at a swanky restaurant, but the participant can only choose one to go with - leaving the other two with a night in alone and a takeaway.

Quizzical Pictures (producers of MasterChef SA, Rhythm City) will be producing once again.

How to apply

You need to be 21 or older to apply. You must be single and can't be a criminal obvs.

You'll find other entry criteria on the show's official application form here: Dinner Date SA applications

Closing date: 4 November 2019

Channels in this post: BBC Lifestyle, SABC3

"Hungry singles"
Can the producers or whoever is responsible for pairing the couples make sure that they are clear on things like race preferences. It is very awkward watching someone who is clearly not comfortable dating outside their race suffering and making their companion (and the viewers) suffer through a three course meal!
