I was very disappointed in the start of SABC3's Presenter Search on Wednesday night (7 August at 19h30)... I was expecting the auditions and the search to kick off immediately but instead they just went on and on
about how wonderful it is to be chosen as a presenter by focusing on past winners - for the whole episode!
It would have been fine if they'd done it at the beginning or even if they'd spent the first quarter on it but it was total overload - way too much marketing of the competition and not enough entertaining new action.
I don't know who the episode was for exactly because those who've entered already buy into the idea of being a presenter so it's not like they have to convince everyone.
What about those who would love to apply but can't for some reason? It was much too exclusive I thought.
The only parts I really enjoyed were the clip of Simba and the look-back to the crazy auditions from the past - would much rather have seen more of these.
They're probably a thing of the past though because the initial auditions have happened on Instagram this season so I assume they're going to miss those raw, crazy auditions where deluded people pitch up.
Did you watch? Did you feel the same?
