SABC3's Presenter Search is back for a 2018 Search after three years of silence and the auditions begin this month.

The channel is looking for new talent to join one of their Tswelopele-produced lifestyle shows Expresso, Afternoon Express and Top Billing.
Previous winners include Jade Hubner, Danilo Acquisto, Zoë Brown and Chris Jaftha, who was hired three months after the Search ended.

Here's what you need to know about the auditions:

Audition dates and venues

Port Elizabeth
Date: Sunday, 25 March 2018
Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium

Cape Town
Date: Saturday and Sunday, 7 and 8 April 2018
Venue: Newlands Rugby Stadium

Saturday and Sunday, 14 and 15 April 2018
Venue: Durban Exhibition Centre

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 20-22 April 2018
Venue: Wanderers Cricket Stadium

How to enter

Simply arrive with a photo - and arrive early. A photo isn't 100% essential but it is advisable to take one with you. At registration you'll be given a registration form to fill out and allocated an audition number. Keep your number, your photo and your form and wait to audition.

What to prepare

Ideally all auditionees should provide one printed photo of themselves at the auditions which will be attached to your audition form. If you don't have a photo, don't worry - you can still audition.
Ensure you bring the following to auditions: Water, sunscreen or an umbrella for shade.
Wear something that defines your style. Avoid fine stripes and large brand logos.
Prepare a 10-15 second audition that introduces you to the judges and to the world. Explain who you are and woo the judges with something catchy, witty and interesting.

What to expect

Arrive expecting to make friends.
Queues can be long and the days hot so be prepared for the weather and for a long wait.
Although food and drinks will be available at the audition venues to purchase at your own cost, the organisers suggest taking something of your own just in case.
Each venue will provide free WIFI which you can login to use it for the day.

The Audition

When you enter the audition room, greet the judges and ensure that you have your registration number attached to yourself and clearly visible, and when you’re ready, you’ll deliver your first link.
You’ll walk from one mark (an X) on the floor, to the next mark (another X on the floor), whilst delivering a 10-15 second link that introduces you to the judges and to the world.
Explain who you are, what makes you unique, and woo the judges with something catchy, witty and interesting - all while walking from the first mark to the second mark.

How do I know if I made it?

If you’ve made it to the Call Back stage you will receive a call from the show producers on the last night of the auditions.
If you auditioned in Port Elizabeth Call Back auditionees will be notified on the night of 25 March.
If you auditioned in Cape Town Call Back auditionees will be notified on the night of 8 April.
If you auditioned in Durban Call Back auditionees will be notified on the night of 15 April.
If you auditioned in Johannesburg Call Back auditionees will be notified on the night of 22 April.

14 Mar 2018 17:15

What is the age requirements?

16 Mar 2018 09:23

HI Tiisetso, you need to be 18 or older to apply.

20 Mar 2018 09:41

A heads-up that the venue for Cape Town has been confirmed as Newlands Rugby Stadium.

Hi TVSA. If I audition in PE, would I need to go to PE again for call backs or could I go to any city?

Do you need to have a qualification to enter?

Neo Potwana
29 Mar 2018 08:41

Hi TVSA, Thanks once, ey I want to go for it.

29 Mar 2018 14:33

Go for it Neo!

@Thmbelihle No, you don't need a qualification, just your dazzling personality.

In answer to your question Sngzungu... yes, if you've auditioned in PE and you're successful, then you need to go to the PE call back.

If you audition in PE and you aren't successful, you can audition again at any of the other venues - you can audition at all four venues if you like.

If you're successful at one of the other venues then you need to attend the call back in whichever city you were successful in e.g. if your second audition is in Durban and you get a call back then you need to go to the call back in Durban

So what if I'm only going to turn 18 on the 28th of April Am I still eligible to apply or not?

05 Apr 2018 10:11

Unfortunately not Fikile, you have to be 18 at the time of your audition.

Cape Town Auditions on Sunday were really disappointing. It would have been nice if they had organised Cape Town to be 3 days like JHB. Cape Town is a really big city with a lot of people that like things. On sunday they had to do a rush job because at 5pm the venue still had more than 5000 people to audition. They had to rush people that could have done really well.

11 Apr 2018 06:30

Hi.i would to ask if the audition time is 10_15 minutes or if that one it's only for the introduction?

12 Apr 2018 10:07

Hi TruthProto, that's the length that your audition has to be - 10 to 15 seconds, not minutes. You need to introduce yourself, say what makes you unique and express yourself by saying something witty, cool or crazy - something that shows who you are. You need to do this while walking from 1 marker to another.

I wasn't to know is this also free for foreigners and what are the requirements for foreigners

16 Apr 2018 18:49

*I want to know if it's also free for foreigners and what are the requirements for foreigners

18 Apr 2018 10:52

Hi Mayimwana, yes foreigners can audition too, if you have the correct paperwork. We asked the production for clarity and received this reply from their media agency Platinum Club.

The search is open to any person who is a permanent legal resident of South Africa and who is able to produce a valid South African ID, or other valid ID with the necessary visas and/or permits that allows that person to live and work without restrictions in South Africa.
