Whoa, we've got whiplash from our double-take when we heard this news...

Uzalo star Leleti Khumalo is leaving the show and won't be on the upcoming fourth season.

Leleti, who's starred as Zandile "MaNzuza" Mdletshe since the show's debut in February 2015, is calling it quits.

Sihle Ndaba is also leaving, taking her character Smangele with her. Sihle has also been on the show since Season 1.

This is what Leleti has to say about her exit:

Leleti: "I am grateful for the opportunity, and the platform the show provided for me to bond with the viewers, and my fans who have been a part of my journey over the years.

Whilst this has not been as easy decision for me as an artist, it is time for me to move on and grow professionally in other areas.”

Uzalo's new season premieres in February 2018 and word from the show's production house Stained Glass is that it's going to feature an injection of new characters.

These roles haven't been cast yet but they're going to be soon. The show will be searching for talent through open auditions, as it did before it premiered back in 2014. (Blast-to-the-past to the first auditions.)

We'll keep you posted on these and other developments.

Both of their storylines were tired .its time foe a change .Leleti is a great actress i am sure she will have plenty of work after the show . So GC is staying ?i heard rumours he demanded a raise

i watch the show once a week bt would like to know if sihle ndaba was sack by producers or was her own decision?.. i smell thandaza(muvhango) stepping in here

This is officially the beginning of an end of Uzalo. If they can let Leleti go due to money issues, in future they might let the whole cast go. They are slowly drifting away from the DNA of Uzalo.

We've asked the show for clarity on why they're leaving - if they chose to leave or if the production felt their characters had reached an end. We'll post their reply once we get it.

Oooooh... we've just got a call from a source who's close to the show who gave us some interesting gossss.

They told us that Leleti hasn't left because Uzalo wasn't paying enough but because she's gotten an offer elsewhere that she's decided to take instead. They say the role is bigger and she's very involved behind-the-scenes with it. Apparently this was a big drawcard for her - the behind-the-scenes aspect.

They must just pray Dawn Thandeka king does not leave .that would be a huge blow for the show

Please note that Sihle Ndaba will be leaving Uzalo due to the changes in storyline for Season 4.

ohk well although 90% of their characters have no substance bt they chose only her
