This just in from SABC1 about the sex scenes that have rocked Generations over the past two weeks... notice the use of the word "alleged"...

SABC 1 has taken a decision to pull off the Generations - The Legacy Omnibus for this week’s episodes which were scheduled to air tomorrow, Saturday, the 22nd of July 2017.

This is due to the viewer complaints the channel has received about the alleged explicit content shown during this week’s episodes of the popular soapie.

The channel will replace this week’s episodes by airing the first 5 episodes of Generations – The Legacy that first went to air on the 1st  till the  of 5th December 2014, from 11h00 – 13h30.

We would like to assure our viewers that we take their feedback seriously and would like to apologize for any inconvenience or discomfort this week’s episodes may have caused.

I was so angry and hurt today when I read an article where the Generations publicist said "We are aware of the complaints but we will CONTINUE to show such scenes as the series progresses". I was done with Gen I swear. That publicist needs to be fired. And those who defended these disgusting scenes are a bunch of sick people. We were not being unreasonable. THIS IS A FAMILY SHOW. Mfundi Vundla will learn to show us some goddamn respect.

BCCSA vindicated Generations in 2015. And some people still want to believe they know better than that commission. Unbelievable! The SABC1 is 100% correct to say ALLEGED because the commission does not see any explicit sex there. People are just in denial and acting oblivious. How is showing half naked people kissing explicit, as if we don't know what that is? I never understand why would people even put themselves into the misery of watching what they don't like as if they are forced to when there are so many options on TV. These in denial noise-makers are probably the same ones that made silly rants when the 16 outcasts were sacked and promised to never watch again, but still continued to watch. And if my enjoying this viewing pleasure makes me a sick person, then I'm glad to be a very happy sick person. Thats why I pay TV license.

Lol I can't believe you are still in denial. The SABC would never have taken the unprecedented step of pulling an omnibus airing based on "alleged" wrong doing. They are panicked and will ensure that Generations never does this again! The people have spoken and we have won. Now let's go back to watching and stop fighting over dumb sh*t.

You read a statement from them. They pulled the omnibus off just to ease the frenzy but they know those scenes do not violate the broadcasting codes set by the BCCSA. No rule or code was broken here. The publist said that because she knows that. I was enjoying those scenes and looking forward to the omnibus. To hell with those over-exaggeration cry babies. What will their lamenting mouths do when the show becomes an utter boring fest... they'll go to social media and rant again as if they can write a better script. I pity the producers who have to be told by emotional trolls what to do.

To be fair, the show is already an utter boring fest. Those sex scenes have not made the show better.

If Gen producers carry on like this ,they will lose their creative independence and even the 8pm timeslot .the show is too much for us sensitive viewers .the producers must do better and improve the bloody storyline

Yes @max, Kaizer Kganyago basically said that they will ensure such a thing never transpires again. Karen Vundla is running the show into the ground. Now she's gonna have SABC looking over her shoulder to make sure she behaves. I just hope this week is better. I can't bear the discomfort anymore.

What a relief to the sensitive. I'm glad I don't have that weakness. If I did, I'd probably not be watching any of those primetime shows, both local and international. Anyway, BCCSA should clearly review their rules, coz clearly they do not make sense in this case. Producers play by the rules but they are told they are wrong. We don't want the so-called sensitive people to blame TV shows for their messed up kids.

Copy and Paste article from TimesLive: The SABC is set to meet with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) and the producers of Generations: The Legacy after explicit content was shown on the popular soapie recently. The soapie came under scrutiny last week after a storyline which saw two of the characters engage in bedroom foreplay resulted in complaints at the BCCSA. The SABC later announced that it had scrapped the week's episodes on its Saturday omnibus because of the complaints. Speaking to TshisaLIVE , SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said that it would be meeting with producers and the BCCSA to discuss the offending storyline. "We have noted the complaints that were laid with both us and the BCCSA. We decided to not air the episodes from last week because some of them were the episodes which we received the complaints about and we wanted to show that we take those complaints seriously. "Naturally we are concerned by the complaints but we will engage with the BCCSA to understand the complaints and also with the producers to understand the reasons for the storyline. We want to get the whole picture before we make any decisions about the show," Kaizer said. He said that while discussions were underway, the show would continue "as normal". "We won't be cancelling Generations. It will resume as normal until we have made a decision," he added.
