You're never going to believe this... oh, hang on - you will!

The SABC has lost the recently announced new season of Come Dine With Me South Africa. The series, which originally aired on DStv, was going to air on SABC3 this year.

The call for dinner hosts went out two weeks ago and today (21 February) it's over.

According to the SABC, production company Rapid Blue has withdrawn their offer to produce the show.

This from SABC's statement:

The SABC has been in negotiations with the rights holder, production house Rapid Blue, to showcase ‘Come Dine With Me South Africa’. However the Corporation was informed by the production company that they have subsequently withdrawn their offer for us to produce the show.

The SABC would like to apologise to all South Africans who adhered to the call to action in anticipation that we would be producing the show.

We're in the process of getting comment from Rapid Blue and will update here once we have word.

Here's a statement from Rapid Blue, by Kee-Leen Irvine, Managing Director & Executive Producer:

"Although we will not be moving ahead with SABC on this occasion we remain committed to the Come Dine With Me format and are exploring how best to bring a new series of the show to South  African viewers."

I liked the show on BBCL, but I just have a feeling they would have done damage to the show just like how boring Master Chef was on SABC 3. Rapid blue must find a way to keep the show on BBCL and Dave must still be the host, it won't be the same without him.

>>TVSA what does Rapid Blue say about #XFactorSA<<

We've been investigating and discovered that SABC1's definitely not doing it. We asked
SABC1's Channel Head Clara Nzima who told us that it isn't on the schedule for the year.

We've also spoken to Rapid Blue's Kee-Leen Irvine who told us this:
"X-Factor is being considered by other channels and there are some big plans for it."

We're keeping our noses to the ground to get a sniff of which other channels it could be on. We've asked e.tv and they've said that they definitely aren't doing it so we'll have to see what happens next.
