Rhythm City's Jamie Bartlett in hijack ordeal

:0 ... Rhythm City star Jamie Bartlett (David Genaro) was the victim of a hijack ordeal on Friday (27 January) when three armed men hijacked his car while he was driving in Brixton and forced him into the boot.

In a statement published by eNCA, police spokesperson Kay Makhubela said that the attackers drove with Jamie and dropped him in an open field in Zonkizizwe in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni.

Jamie went to a nearby house for help and the residents called the poilice who've opened a case of kidnapping, armed robbery and hijacking against his attackers.

They took his phone, bag and two gold rings.

According to the South African Heroes Twitter account, Jamie wasn't physically hurt. Rhythm City will be releasing a statement today clarifying his condition - we'll keep you posted when we hear.

This statement just in from Rhythm City/e.tv on behalf of Jamie:

Jamie Bartlett would like to acknowledge that an incident occurred on Friday between 11 PM and 2AM, where he and his car were taken to Zonkizizwe township where he was politely dropped off. He was brilliantly looked after by the community and the police. Jamie is fit and strong, both physically and mentally. He will be back on set before you can say "knife".
