On Wednesday night (8 September) BET awarded Mzansi celebs with A-list credentials as part of the launch of the channel's new celebrity show BET A-List which starts tonight (at 18h35).

These 20 celebs were awarded the top spots on the channel's A-list.. see if you think they deserve it or if anyone else deserves it more:

Radio & TV personality (Female): Bonang Matheba

Radio & TV personality (Male): Somizi Mhlongo

Actress: Terry Pheto

Director: Thabang Moleya

Writer: Zakes Mda

Game Changers (TV/film): Shona and Connie Ferguson

Comedians: Nicholas Goliath, Donovan Goliath & Jason Goliath

DJ: Black Coffee

Game Changer (music): Cassper Nyovest

Rising Star: Nasty C

Most Stylish Musician: Riky Rick

Style icon: David Tlale

Social Media Star: AKA

Sportswoman: Caster Semenya

Sportsman: Wayde van Niekerk

Philanthropist: DJ Sbu

Entrepreneur: Khanyi Dhlomo

PS: The channel wants to make these awards an annual event and will be airing highlights from it on next week's episode (on 15 September).

What's the criteria for this? Actress: Terry Pheto?? Somizi for radio personality? TV yes, I get that. Ai if this is going to be an annual thing I suspect we are going to see the same names

Hi Scorpio - this is what they say about the criteria: "The BET A-List was compiled and curated by BET's in house programming and talent team, focusing on achievers who best exemplify contemporary achievement and who are making a huge impact in their personal field of endeavour."
