Sweet, beloved Survivor lovers... this news S.U.C.K.S. in the strictest sense of the word.
As you may have seen in the TVSA news yesterday,
The Amazing Race has been canned in the SABC3 80% local content quota so it looked highly likely that Survivor has been too. I've just spoken to an SABC insider who told me that it's been axed and snatched away from us too. Cut out of our lives without ANY consultation with us!!
It's so heartbreaking I'm sitting here flushed with disappointment and anger. As TVSA member

It's such a hurtful and brutal thing to have your fave show
ripped away!! It's also extremely unjust because we're paying our TV licences - it's beyond comprehension that we can be paying for a service that we have absolutely NO say in!
Word from my mole is that the only international shows that are staying on the channel in the 22h30 slot are things like The Mentalist and The Fixer because they've been on for previous seasons and they have continuing stories.
But, but, BUT Survivor's one big continuing story too! - it's aired for 27 seasons and it's about so much beyond that. It's about life and society and the human condition and all that important stuff so it's a
huge loss to the TV landscape.
I honestly don't have a clue why they have to cancel it - I would even have been okay if they'd moved it to the 22h30 timeslot instead. They could have generated much needed cash from it by refreshing it as a phenomenon by airing episodes every weeknight to catch us up with America but to cancel it is truly crushing.
