It premiered on History on Wednesday (15 July) and there's so, so much more still to come on Roots, including one of the most profound quotes on TV. Ever.

It's by Kunta Kinte who says: "They can put the chains on your body, never let them put the chains on your mind."

History channel released a preview of the series when it aired in America and Kunta's quote and the "empowerment" title of it are perfectly appropriate for today's 40th anniversary of the Soweto uprising.

Take a look...

This movie is so painful and it's teaching a lot about the history of how people were treated, I remember i used to watch it home when i was a kid it reminds me a lot

I could not watch past through episode one. I just got too emtional. Movies like these I woud rather read about them than watch them. I watched 12 years a slave, I was crying throughout the movie. It's just horrific.
