Coming up on Carte Blanche this Sunday (2 August 2015):

Team MTN Qhubeka

It’s been called the African sports story of the year. They earned the respect of the world’s biking professionals, riding over 3000 kilometres from Utrecht to the Alps in the greatest race on earth - the Tour de France.

But far from the crowds and glory there is another side to Africa’s first team at the Tour - the drive to get poor kids onto bicycles. Carte Blanche joins the team in Paris for the final stage of the Tour and later share in drinks and celebratory boerewors as we find out how they exceeded all expectations, coming fifth overall.

Producer: Joy Summers
Presenter: Derek Watts

Plate Cloning Chaos

Over 350 different types of licence plates are legal in South Africa and it’s estimated that one in five plates on Gauteng roads is cloned. Just how easy is it to buy and use illegal number plates?

As our undercover cameras expose the clone cons, Carte Blanche also gets exclusive access to a new JMPD methodology that stops drivers with cloned or illegal number plates in their tracks.

Producer: Sasha Schwendenwein
Presenter: Derek Watts

Bullies in Blue II

Several accounts relating to widespread police brutality came to the fore in the wake of Carte Blanche’s explosive investigation into alleged brutal assaults at the hands of Edenvale police officer Constable Derick Mapatlare - A.K.A ‘Goldtooth’.

What has subsequently happened to the Constable and the Edenvale Police’s Station Commander? What can ordinary people do when threatened with assault or unjust arrest? Carte Blanche follows up on a story that’s caused a national outcry for action against rogue officers.

Producer: Kate Barry
Presenter: Bongani Bingwa

PRASA’S Big Blunder

A disgruntled board chairperson, an axed CEO, an unqualified engineer and trains that are too big for their tracks. Has the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) finally derailed? What’s behind one of the country’s biggest tender debacles?

Carte Blanche investigates the truth behind a R3.5 billion tender for 70 locomotives and the in-house battles for contracts at the agency.

Producer: Sian Clark
Presenter: Bongani Bingwa

Carte Blanche is on M-Net on Sundays at 19h00.
