Coming up on Carte Blanche this Sunday (26 October):

Dewani trial

Startling revelations from Anni Dewani’s closest confidant, cousin Sneha Mashru, dominated proceedings in week three of the Shrien Dewani trial. Evidence of shoddy investigation surfaced when the defence lambasted a ballistics expert for substandard work. Carte Blanche unpacks the latest from the trial.

Producer: Michael Duffett
Presenter: John Webb

*Please note that Carte Blanche Legal Round Table: The Shrien Dewani Trial, will continue on M-Net this week after the Sunday night movie. The show is an hour-long weekly round-up of the Shrien Dewani trial, and is broadcast every Sunday night for the duration of the trial.

David O’Sullivan and Katy Katopodis will be joined in studio each week by legal experts, psychologists and social media pundits to analyse the latest developments of the Dewani trial.

Ebola Doctors

The war on Ebola is far from won. International promises of assistance have been woefully inadequate. What is it like for the doctors treating a disease that has caused hysteria across the USA and wreaked havoc in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea? Carte Blanche finds out from two dedicated South African doctors working with Medicines Sans Frontiers.

Producer: Joy Summers
Presenter: Devi Sankaree Govender
Journalist: Sasha Schwendenwein

Nyaope Street

Drug addicts wanting a quick fix know that Brown Street in Pretoria’s CBD is the place to go to. Among the filth and litter, drug dealers and users roll joints laced with heroin and a cocktail of lethal ingredients, commonly known as Nyaope. Carte Blanche takes you into the heart of this notorious street, home to dealers openly plying their trade, while police seem to turn a blind eye.

Producer: Graham Coetzer
Presenter: Devi Sankaree Govender
Journalist: Susan Comrie

War Horse

Seven years ago when War Horse opened at London’s National Theatre nobody imagined that over five million people around the world would eventually see the production. Carte Blanche goes backstage as the global theatre phenomenon comes home.

Producer: Diana Lucas
Presenter: Devi Sankaree Govender

Carte Blanche is on M-Net on Sundays at 19h00
