For at least one year, they have managed to keep their relationship away from the prying eyes of the media. But not anymore! We can now exclusively reveal the multi-faceted muso, RJ Benjamin, famously known for his hit song Change The World, is dating former 7de Laan and Montanna actress Chantal Stanfield.
Chantal, who is also a TVSA guest blogger, was inseparable from RJ Benjamin at the Idols season 10 recording last night (Wednesday 26 August) at the State Theatre in Pretoria. At first I thought I saw the duo in the VIP area when we had pre-drinks and snacks but was not sure. During the recording, RJ and Chantal were seated approximately two metres away from me. Then I started talking to my two +1s about them and RJ gave me the look that says: “Yeah, I heard you mention my name”.
Some will remember RJ as the music director for Clash of the Choirs SA and he is also back with IdolsSA season 10 - working with the top 16 as their musical mentor. Throughout the recording last night, RJ and Chantal were so loved up and the writing on the wall was very crystal. However, last night was one of those nights were I was just blonde and didn’t want to read too much into what I was seeing. I even managed to convince myself they are just friends. Yes, that’s how blonde I was. They cannot be dating, I believed.
Lo and behold. After the recording as we made our way out of the State Theatre, the two walked hand in hand and before I could even intrude, they disappeared. I then spoke to one of the ladies who was talking to the pair before they could disappear and asked if the two are an item. “You media guys are very slow! Where have you been? Yes they are dating,” she exclaimed. How long have they been dating? I asked. “It’s been over a year now,” replied the lady. I tried to source juicy details about the relationship from the lady but she jokingly mentioned she wanted money to do so.
We are so happy for the loved up duo and we wish them tons of love and happiness. We can never have love enough stories to renew our hope in true love.
