Taking a trip down memory lane to almost 12 months ago. What do you remember most about the 2010 FIFA World Cup that took place in South Africa and the African continent for the first time?

Do you remember how every Friday was football Friday and we had to wear Bafana Bafana shirts (more fakes were worn than the real deal)?

Do you remember how Sandton came to a standstill when Bafana Bafana did their Parade?

Do you remember how endlessly long the queues were at the ticketing centres?

Do you remember Bishop Tutu's comical speech at the pre-World Cup party at the Orlando Stadium?

Do you remember the actual kick off?

Do you remember the first goal by Siphiwe Tshabalala?

Do you remember how we beat France, that happen to be previous World Cup champions?

Do you remember the drama in the Brazil camp and them fighting on the field?

Do you remember how all the previous World Cup Champions were kicked out one after the other?

Ladies do you remember some of those footballer hotties?

Who can forget the controvesial Vuuuuuuuuuuvuzela!

So, what do you remember about the World Cup? What are you missing most about last year? Would you want to go back to the 2010 World Cup?

The most memorable thing for me was the true reflection of wat we mean by being a rainbow nation, we were trully united as South Africans.

I also remember how those children who accompany the footballers in the field were made to wear only long sleave T-shirts with no jacket on and i used to feel so sorry about them, especially seeing them vibrating like that in the field lol

Tjo Pru, i was listening 2 Umhlobo Wenene FM's BEE & they were going memory lane 2... What an awesome month it was, we were a true/real rainbow nation. We showed the entire world that we were able.. It was really AYOBA.. How can we 4gt that 1st goal by our very own Simphiwe Tshabalala & the dance that followed after.

eish Pru nna i remember knocking off ka 12h00 at work instead ka 4pm wen Bafanabafana plays and for other matches ka 2pm. Gone are those days. all of us wer one nation no blacks, whites, poor or rich. Unity played a huge role. Even criminals wer on leave and behaving big time.

France, that happen to be previous World Cup champions?
That was our highlight lol

So, what do you remember about the World Cup?
I rememeber how the dangerous Diego Forlan of Uruguay's  made it a point that we were kicked out of the WC by ensuring that we were beaten 3-0 on 16 June, lol and I remember how I wrote a frank article about that game.

I also remember how Pretoria City Centre was heavily congested with Bafana supporters and tourists on 10 or 9 June during the Vuvu momement bringing traffic to a gran standstill.

I also remember how we S Africans were singing at Church Square and some Brazillians joined us and we started singing Thiba ka mona, thiba ka mona, re bolaye msa tjena, lol, that was so funny and th epoor Brazillians joined in not knowing what the lyrucs meant. It was a kwaaaaaaaaaaa momement.

Who can forget how you lot took SABC's feel it, it is here and made it Phillip, it is here. That was the year hey. I still have pics to show to my daughter when she grows up lol

Would you want to go back to the 2010 World Cup?
Not really, it's time ro move on now and focus on other things. Phela the whole WC thingie put everything on hold, lol

Wow, John Robie was also doing flashing us back.... got all teary.

I remmeber how for that particular period i realy was into soccer, analysis, the works!...now?...im back to square zero as far as soccer passion is concerned.
I was on campus the entire time working, wits was such a beautiful sight being the park and ride location and all (also because the little children were gone home)...sometimes i would go out to the amic deck just to watch people boarding the busses in their soccer gear...the colours, the vuvuzelas, thousands of people excited over one thing....it was beautifull. I got to attend atleat one gamenyana...brazil vs ivory coast. I got to board the busses lenna that id see people boarding everyday (that was my moment...boarding the buss). And i remmeber somehow we were amongs brazil fans, when they scored the third goal, we stopped cheering for ivory coast and started chanting with...twas fun. Im glad i felt phillip...my kids are not gonna hear the end of it...lol.
*smilez*.....

ya neh, I still have my mirror flags and they came off my car a while back. It was amazing and filled with so much love. Most cars had flags on them and the 11th I got stuck in traffic while driving to Thokoza park. I jsut stood in traffic and blew a Vuvu only to realise that most people around us were doing the same.

Bekafikile uPhillip ngiyakutshela! The best part was when we watched the SA v/s France game in the office, just left the tax packs and focused on the game.

I am still soccer crazed even now, and enjoyed the last Bafana game against Egypt. There is more order on the squad games as people always seat on their allocates seats than the PSL games.

I used to hate Diego Forlan with passion after that match.. Our tears were wiped off by Bafana winning the match against France, at that moment it felt like we won the world cup & we were so happy 4 beating the 2002 Soccer World Cup Champions.

zvee, you just reminded me of Uruguay team. oh I hated Luis Suarez with a passion! He got Khune a red card and declined Ghana the entry in the last four by his hand and celebrated. I am sure if I bumped into him anywhere I would clap him.

At least you bothered to subject youreself to the ticklet sales chaos, I didn't go to the stadium for a single game lol. I took my money and bought myself a 47" HD TV instead

d enjoyed the last Bafana game against Egypt.
It was a great game and we had a few opportunities to score but we must do well in the next remaining game. At least if we can win one game then we qualify for Afcon Nice

we were so happy 4 beating the 2002 Soccer World Cup Champions.
Tell mem about it hey

Luis Suarez with a passion
That guy and the referree of the game iare female dogs shem

You remind of me of BaGhana BaGhana which is why they lost as  some believed adding that it was the Bafana senyama lol

I am sure if I bumped into him anywhere I would clap him.
Hau Nice lol, it's a beautiful game, what happened to it being a beautiful lol?

OMW How could I forget Phillip it is here! Those side mirror covers were off the hindges. I took mine off early this year, actually they were stolen when I was parked at Maphonya Mall. I attended games in Rustie & Loftus. So the bus to Rustie took us from Park Station right to the stadium. Then we went to Loftus with a train. Everyone was super friendly & the tourists were always going on about how awesome SA is. Good Times indeed!

what happened to it being a beautiful lol?

Makisto,
Forlan showed me what a beautiful game is, I disliked him for his goodness and he played a clean game. Suarez yena, he resorted to tactics and he left me with a bad memory of him.

Talking about team, I am not sure about the new jersey hey. I am not feeling it at all.

Tjo I remember how lazy we were at work that day. We didnt work actually I was getting ready to go to Centurion and go blow my vuvzela.

I remmeber that my husband told me and a whole lot of other people how Forlan was going to destroy us and turns out he was right. I was at the game and it was FREEZING cold. We left early cos we couldnt stand the cold and being beaten so sadly.

I remember selling my final game ticket, iremeber watching a Japan vs somthing match and I was falliing asleep on my chair. *yawn*

Taking my son to go watch Spain.

what sweet memories!

@mbulela Yeah, Brazil also had drama on the field. Remember Kaka was one of the instigators @cleve It was icy cold, particularly the evening games, but it was worth the chill because Phillip is no more:o(
