After reading a number of articles on the net, tweets and Cheesa's article
HERE about Vivica Fox dissing SA celebs, I think it's only fair to set the record straight.
What has been reported thus far is very one-sided. Vivica A Fox has been painted as a meanster who looks down on SA and its' female celebs. That is untrue.
I luv our Mzansi celebs and I respect their side of the story. However, as much as people were hating on Vivica Fox for coming to SA for local sports awards, let's remember that she was invited by South Africa. I'm not "buying iskelm" lol, but it seems no-one is interested in telling the entire story. I was there at the pre-party of the SA Sport Awards aka pre-Razzmatazz and witnessed what transpired.
Tbo Touch, who was the MC called on the international stars; Vivica A Fox, Brandy and Regina King, to go on stage to take a picture with the Sport's Minister, Fikile Mbalula. As the ladies went on the stage, Touch also called SA's "top female celebs" on stage to join in the picture. He started by calling their names and eventually invited those who knew they were "top female celebs" on stage.
Before we knew it there was a flood of Mzansi's finest on the rather small stage trying to squeeze into the picture, to a point were Vivica who was closest to the SA celebs, was unintentionally pushed during the scuffle. Touch tried to control the scuffle by asking the SA celebs to move to one side to give the international stars room to take the picture with the minister.
The scuffle continued as more females went on stage and that's when Vivica snapped and asked them to move. She asked again the second time and that's when I saw her push Sonia Sedibe away. Although I couldn't hear what she said, the Mzansi gals did mention that she asked them who they were and to get off the stage. Some Mzansi female celebs such as Minenhle and Bonang got off stage and the picture was eventually taken.
From TV interviews I've seen of Vivica, she's gangster and calls a spade a spade. She definitely was wrong for asking who they were but someone had to intervene in that chaos and unfortunately it happened to be her.
So, you decide. Is she the monster she's been made out to be?
One thing is certain, she was more than willing to take pictures with anyone, hence I got an opportunity to take a photo with her minutes before the drama.
Now, onto the actual SA Sport Awards...
For a first timer award show, they were pretty smooth. Mara, the autocue was a let down and the madalas should have worn their reading glasses instead of squinting the whole time. Lol
Attack me all you want but I don't see how or why Aron "Arrogant" Mokoena won that Green Jersey. Tjo!
I felt Pitso Mosimane should have won the Coach Award. He's gotten so much negative criticism and is under so much stress and pressure, yet he's doing a great job with Bafana Bafana.
I found it strange that Oscar Pretorious was not nominated in any category, or did I miss something? Also, how did Natalie du Toit not win any award? Mxm
I was however pretty chuffed that Caster Semenya won the Minister's Award. **Huge Grin**
Otherwise, I found the awards too ANC/Government driven. I still don't understand the significance of Vivica Fox being there, at least Regina King is an athlete and she blended well with Deputy Sports' Minister. Carol Manana did an awesome job as host and Colin Moss pulled an Eskom somewhere in the process.
Before I forget, why in the world was Brandy barefooted and did Somizi really have to go on stage?
Just asking!
What were your thoughts on the Awards?
