Setting The Record Straight: Vivica Fox

Sports Awards Large 2

After reading a number of articles on the net, tweets and Cheesa's article HERE about Vivica Fox dissing SA celebs, I think it's only fair to set the record straight.

What has been reported thus far is very one-sided. Vivica A Fox has been painted as a meanster who looks down on SA and its' female celebs. That is untrue.

I luv our Mzansi celebs and I respect their side of the story. However, as much as people were hating on Vivica Fox for coming to SA for local sports awards, let's remember that she was invited by South Africa. I'm not "buying iskelm" lol, but it seems no-one is interested in telling the entire story. I was there at the pre-party of the SA Sport Awards aka pre-Razzmatazz and witnessed what transpired.

Tbo Touch, who was the MC called on the international stars; Vivica A Fox, Brandy and Regina King, to go on stage to take a picture with the Sport's Minister, Fikile Mbalula. As the ladies went on the stage, Touch also called SA's "top female celebs" on stage to join in the picture. He started by calling their names and eventually invited those who knew they were "top female celebs" on stage.

Before we knew it there was a flood of Mzansi's finest on the rather small stage trying to squeeze into the picture, to a point were Vivica who was closest to the SA celebs, was unintentionally pushed during the scuffle. Touch tried to control the scuffle by asking the SA celebs to move to one side to give the international stars room to take the picture with the minister.

The scuffle continued as more females went on stage and that's when Vivica snapped and asked them to move. She asked again the second time and that's when I saw her push Sonia Sedibe away. Although I couldn't hear what she said, the Mzansi gals did mention that she asked them who they were and to get off the stage. Some Mzansi female celebs such as Minenhle and Bonang got off stage and the picture was eventually taken.

From TV interviews I've seen of Vivica, she's gangster and calls a spade a spade. She definitely was wrong for asking who they were but someone had to intervene in that chaos and unfortunately it happened to be her.

So, you decide. Is she the monster she's been made out to be?

One thing is certain, she was more than willing to take pictures with anyone, hence I got an opportunity to take a photo with her minutes before the drama.

Sports Awards 1

Now, onto the actual SA Sport Awards...

For a first timer award show, they were pretty smooth. Mara, the autocue was a let down and the madalas should have worn their reading glasses instead of squinting the whole time. Lol

Attack me all you want but I don't see how or why Aron "Arrogant" Mokoena won that Green Jersey. Tjo!

I felt Pitso Mosimane should have won the Coach Award. He's gotten so much negative criticism and is under so much stress and pressure, yet he's doing a great job with Bafana Bafana.

I found it strange that Oscar Pretorious was not nominated in any category, or did I miss something? Also, how did Natalie du Toit not win any award? Mxm

I was however pretty chuffed that Caster Semenya won the Minister's Award. **Huge Grin**

Otherwise, I found the awards too ANC/Government driven. I still don't understand the significance of Vivica Fox being there, at least Regina King is an athlete and she blended well with Deputy Sports' Minister. Carol Manana did an awesome job as host and Colin Moss pulled an Eskom somewhere in the process.

Before I forget, why in the world was Brandy barefooted and did Somizi really have to go on stage?

Just asking!

What were your thoughts on the Awards?

Eish ga ke itse, picture ya Sonia being pushed by Vivica somehow cracks me up,it must b hard being a local celeb especially when this Americans r visiting our shores, i can c then shem pushing each other just to get a pic with has-beens  & what r they going to do with the pic show it 2 thier nieces/nephews/kids

Before I read,m I just wanted to say the Fox is lying. Minnie and Bonang and others tweeted about this and I choose to believe our local celebs than an American hasbeen, now, lemme read the whatever record straight. These Americans think they are better than others where as in fact they are very ugly shem

Vivica A Fox has been painted as a meanster who looks down on SA and its' female celebs.
This is very true

That is untrue.
Where you there when the incident happened?

Touch tried to control the scuffle by asking the SA celebs to move to one side to give the international stars room to take the picture with the minister.
Why shouldn't the international stars be the ones to move?

She asked again the second time and that's when I saw her push Sonia Sedibe away.
Why must she do this. Sonia is more revelvant to me than a hasbeen Fox

she asked them who they were
This is what the problem is with these Americans

So, you decide. Is she the monster she's been made out to be?
Yes she is, by your own admission, she was very rude. It seems to me like you are sucking up to her ((((((((hides)))))) *just saying my opinion lol, nothing personal*

I got an opportunity to take a photo with her minutes before the drama.
Then I am not surprised by the angle of this article

the madalas should have worn their reading glasses instead of squinting the whole time
Kwaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, you funny wena yazi lol

yet he's doing a great job with Bafana Bafana.
I agree, it's time our local coaches get the recognition they deserve

I found it strange that Oscar Pretorious was not nominated in any category, or did I miss something? Also, how did Natalie du Toit not win any award? Mxm
Haowa, this is strange. I think the awards smack of racism. How can our very own Oscar not be notimated? It sounds to me like these were black people sports awards

What were your thoughts on the Awards?
Eish, Eskom decided to go load-shedding on us last evening yazi

Vivica wasn't wrong in asking who they were, she doesn't know them! Maybe it's the manner in which it was asked, but honestly she doesn't know them

Vesa

I'm not sure of the criteria that was used to nominate and award the sports people, but I often found mysself asking myself who some of the winners were.....we had never heard of them? And this could possibly be because they haven't acheived anything ouststanding on the national/ international leve.....and I assumed that that would be the merit?

22 Aug 2011 09:31

poshspice
22 Aug 2011 09:32

Vivica Fox is an accomplished actress Makisto, we can question the relevance of bringing her to sports awards, maybe Minister always had a crush on her...how else ca we explain her invite. Pru Luv I also thought the ANC mentions were unnecessary and irrelevant , so what if Danny Jordan served as an ANC what what in PE, Deputy prez was on stage for too long.. ..

makisto
22 Aug 2011 09:36

Vivica Fox is an accomplished actress Makisto
Accomplished or not, she didn't have to push Sonia, I didn't hear of Xolile Tshabala, who is an accomplished actress pushing Americans when she was in New York. I also haven't heard Terry Phetho, who according to me and i know you guys will disagree, is an accomplished actress, pushing Americans at the Emmy Daytime Awards. Mina I really don't get why we have to play second fiddle to these Americans. They think they own the world.

carino
22 Aug 2011 09:40

I don't think the lady was acting all diva and primadonna. What she saw was a group of black people flocking the stage like doves scuffling for breadcrumbs, all because the minister said "will all top mzansi female celebs go to the stage". They all saw themselves as "top celebs" and that's why they scurried to the stage. We understand why it then hurts to have someone tell them off. Nami if I were to respond to a call for top businesswomen and have Patrice Motsepe tell me to get off the stage I'd be hurt. .

mbulela
22 Aug 2011 09:41

I agree with Maddie.
What exactly were the celebs rushing to the stage for?Don't they have some respect for themselves?
I would not even bat an eyelid if i came across Fox in a crowded dance floor or ,mall and would probably aske to be paid to have a pic with her.
Why embarrass yourself over a has been?

on a second note,i am a bit disappointed that Pruluv is even attempting to defend her.The whole defence is shattered on the point that she pushed Sonia Sedibe.
Which decent woman does that?
over what? was Sonia about to mug her?
Being a gangster is no excuse for acting like an idiot on stage in public.

Vesa
22 Aug 2011 10:27

@The General, it's not about the past 12 months. If bo Lucas, Fish, Masinga and Jomo could be honoured when their achievements are from years ago, then she should've won! She was nominated under the Diabled Sportswoman of the year. And who is the woman that won and what has she acheived?

carino
22 Aug 2011 10:29

As for comparing TerryPheto and Xolile Tshabalala to american stars...kahhlenibo! Their trips are totally different and are for different reasons and ambitions. Xolile travelled to the US to achieve greatness, to be known and put her name on the map. Vivica on the other hand is invited here being told she's all great and South Africa loves her, her name is already on the map and she is known. So, let's not compare.

Good for them...they are such GROUPIES its pathetic. Whe you are a star...you dont flock to a stage to take a picture with another "celeb" like darkies betyhudisa beyofolela ukutya. Its embarrasing man...Imagine having to introduce yourself to u Vivica Fox ...that's giving her an upper ground...she's no better than any of them but the way the Mzanzi celebs behave when these American stars come here is embarrasing.

They got what they deserved. Bazi FANS gqithi.

Why was the picture being taken vele, in the first place? Is it going to be hung in some prestigious museum??? I just can't see why "top celebs" would cause a stampede trying to take a pic with Fikile Mbalula. They can always catch him at a heritage day rally, or any other rally...or call Luthuli house anyday. I'm sure he has coffee there often.

I blame the person who called all to the small stage for a photo shoot, how can you call all of them at once, instead may be 4 per shoot would have been better.

Even if i see a celeb, i never wave or smile at them coz they will just ignore you. I have seen Cherel once too many times at Killarney Mall but have never tried to behave as if i know her, i dont want to start spreading inzondo becoz she ignored me.

Hi ya'll,

1. let's remember that she was invited by South Africa.
She was invited, when you invited somewhere you expect a certain level of common deceny and hospitatlity celeb or not.

2. I was there at the pre-party of the SA Sport Awards aka pre-Razzmatazz and witnessed what transpired. She actually witnessed this, and recants what she saw, (dont shoot the messenger)

3.Touch also called SA's "top female celebs" on stage to join in the picture. He started by calling their names and eventually invited those who knew they were "top female celebs" on stage. Brains went out the window here

4. Before we knew it there was a flood of Mzansi's finest on the rather small stage trying to squeeze into the picture, everyone elses brains followed suit

5. to a point were Vivica who was closest to the SA celebs, was unintentionally pushed during the scuffle. She was pushed FIRST unintentionally.......

6. The scuffle continued as more females went on stage and that's when Vivica snapped and asked them to move. the brains where now all playing dolly house outside the building

7. She asked again the second time and that's when I saw her push Sonia Sedibe away. I would do the same given I was pushed then squeezed this after asking for some one to please get a brain and move - reaction to point 5 and 6

8.Some Mzansi female celebs such as Minenhle and Bonang got off stage and the picture was eventually taken.  Their brains returned realising they left empty spaces and were meant to actually be in use and not outside the building lol

9 From TV interviews I've seen of Vivica, she's gangster and calls a spade a spade. Even if she was not gangster but after being invited and expecting a certain level of common deceny and being pushed and shoved she would have blown a fuse - I know I would have!!!!!!

10. She definitely was wrong for asking who they were No she wasnt, maybe if they hadnt shoved and pushed to squeeze on stage but after seeing that and having heard TOP FEMALE CELEBS she was correct in asking if these were indeed TOP FEMALE CELEBS or just over zealous groupies, I know I would have asked in case I heard wrong.....

So, you decide. Is she the monster she's been made out to be?

I dont know her personally I dont aspire to so I wont judge her and based on her reaction (100% human reaction) no she aint! She was just shocked and cheesed - trust me we would have all (okay maybe some Saint Theresa wouldnt have) reacted this way......

For reacting like a thug, she was as wrong as the silly local celebs whose brains took leave of them when they rushed out for a pic like groupies.
