OPRAH’S MASTER CLASS: JANE FONDA Academy award-winning actress, writer, political activist and fitness guru, Jane Fonda is no stranger to the entertainment industry. She rose to fame in the 1960s with films such as Barbarella and Cat Ballou and has appeared in films ever since.
In a heart throbbing interview, Fonda reveals how she faced some challenges growing up. Her mother, socialite Frances Seymour Brokaw, committed suicide when she was 12 years old and not long after her mother's death Fonda developed an eating disorder, which she struggled with for years.
She tells Oprah how her career success inspired her to use the fame she had acquired to make a change. She was determined to see the conflict in Vietnam first-hand, from both sides. The trip to Hanoi taught her some of the most impactful lessons of her life.
Now, in what Jane calls the "third act" of her life, she shares how she learned to let her vulnerabilities show and how she learned to forgive herself.
