Idols: Did Samsung deal hurt Musa's career?

There's been interesting chatter going on on TVSA's Twitter about Idols 9 winner Musa Sukwene and how there's been so little buzz about him after his win.

The only place one can see him is in the Idols promos for the Season 10 auditions but other than that he's been much too silent. As if his win never happened! Why?

Sunday Tribune magazine mentions the fact that he won later in the year as a possible reason:

My theory is that it's because Musa's first album release after his win was part of that terrible Samsung exclusivity deal.

To fill you in in case you missed it ... Universal Music released a five-track mini Christmas album that was only available to people with Samsung Galaxy smartphones so all of the buzz and fun surrounding Musa's first release wasn't available to everyone.

If he'd released the album as a regular EP, available to all to purchase for Christmas, I'm convinced we would be hearing more of him now. Word about him would have spread over the festive season. People would have given his album as Christmas presents, stores would have played it, people would have been filled with Musa spirit.

To me it seems that the Samsung set-up dramatically undermined his impact and reach. I wasn't sure if it was even released but I see Musa mentions it on his Twitter profile.

I heard that his full album's supposed to be released round about now but I haven't heard a word about it. If you've heard anything please spill. I'll investigate too.

I doubt....I bet idols team really thought musa wasn gonna win..his music video compared to brenden's will give you an ansa.

Well i aint voting this year,Idols is a scam man,like Drake says "...never cared about us". They want the ratings and buzz for the show,the fact that the running a new season whilst Musa has made zero impact on the industry is a shame.boycott idols

Idols merley wants to make money out of this, they dont really care about what happens after, in Musa's case its worse they did not even give him a kick start shem!

There has literally been nothing about Musa since he won, we are only seeing him now in the promos for the new season of Idols. Poor Musa, what a raw deal he got.
