Last week I spilt that a source close to the Big Brother Africa franchise told me that it's
"very unlikely" that Big Brother Africa will air this year because of Big Brother Mzansi airing now.
Just after the story was published I got a bunch of messages from TVSA readers saying that they've heard that there's a Big Brother All Stars Edition 2 on the way later this year.
I investigated and discovered that various websites are carrying a story that states that the official Big Brother Africa Facebook page posted the rumour.
I snooped further and found the post:
The only problem is that it isn't the official Big Brother Africa facebook page!
After seeing the post I decided to get official comment on it from M-Net Africa and Big Brother Africa and they informed me that the post was made on a fan site for Big Brother Africa and not the official site.
This is the link to the Facebook fan page:

I spoke to Gideon Khobane, head of Marketing and Publicity at M-Net Africa, who told me: "M-Net has not finalised the plans for Big Brother Africa 2014 and we have not issued any communication on the show to the media or anyone else."
So that's that. The rumours about an All Stars edition aren't true.
Or are they? It does seem like a logical thing for the show to do this year ... it would make it different from Big Brother Mzansi. Alternatively they could do a full-on celebrity edition - that could work too.
Whatever they decide to do, one thing I now know is that it's looking more and more likely that they
will be doing a season later this year. As I snooped around for the right person to speak to about the All Stars rumour, I chatted to other official-type people and none of them said that there won't be a season this year. As I said in my previous ramblings about it, it would make no sense if they don't.
