The MET's interpretation of this year's theme.
So it's that time of year when everyone pretends that they're suddenly so mad about horse racing they just
have to get down to the races. All dressed up. At the MET
dahling.
When you think about the ins-and-outs of it, it's actually nuts. All the fuss and bother and boiling heat in tents ... for what?!
Anyhoo, there's no getting away from the fact that the J&B MET happens annually and that it gets aired on telly annually too.
Until now. As you probs know, the MET usually airs live on SABC3 with a red carpet build-up and full coverage etc. It's not happening this year. The channel's airing the Nobel Peace Prize Awards instead.
I didn't even ask why because what does it matter? It's a no-show and that's that. Same thing on SABC1 and SABC2.
Various entertainment/lifestyle shows will be covering the event in their regular times during next week e.g Expresso etc. but there's no live coverage on SABC.
If you have DStv you'll be able to see some of the activity on Vuzu who'll be covering things live for two hours. They'll be crossing to the venue twice via V-Entertainment: between 15h00 and 16h00 and then again between 17h00 and 18h00. SuperSport will also be crossing over for the main race at 15h30.
As for this year's theme ... it's: "Made to Conquer". This from the MET's description ...
To bring the spirit of 'Made to Conquer' to life you are called upon to Dress Victorious. So be bold and brave and command attention with whatever you wear.
PS: You'll see the MET scheduled on SABC3 on the EPG but it isn't happening.
