Hershel, Hershel, Hershel!!! How does one possibly begin to express the horror moment it happened?
Our heroes have been in unbelievably dark and furious situations in the past but Monday's mid-season finale was their darkest encounter so far because of Hershel's light being extinguished.
I knew he was going to die the instant The Governor started relaxing his sword as if he'd been convinced by Rick's words. Hershel knew it too. His death and the chaos and battle that happened afterwards was such an astute symbol of our twisted world it was heart-wrenching.
Everyone can live together so easily but it never happens because there's
always some egotistical monster who's mad with power and personal agendas. Governors throughout history have done it and they aren't going anywhere. They continue to prey on us daily, relentlessly, ruthlessly trying to turn us into the zombies they need us to be.
I couldn't help but feel a pang for the crowd who backed The Governor because they were so thoroughly and expertly manipulated they were powerless. He manipulated the two sisters from their first sighting of him - there's
no ways they could have known what he was. Just goes to show how easy is it to be manipulated and how cautious one needs to be!
Even though Michonne's killing of The Governor didn't help ease the pain of Hershel it was definitely a soothing balm. An eye for an eye motherf#cker!!!!!!
Some other thoughts on the episode:
- I don't think baby Judith is dead - reckon she's with the 'tweens on the bus.
- I don't think it was Carol who pulverised that rat that Tyreese was so upset about in the tunnel. I'm convinced it was either Carl or that teen of Carol's whose now shot her first kill.
- We'll see Carol again I'm I sure.
- Also, The Governors sister-victims. I'm sure they'll hook up with the group somehow.
- Glenn needs to get 100% better for Maggie.
- I love Michonne even more than I did before.
