We've been at the mercy of The Governor for two episodes and now the time for reckoning has arrived. His spying on Rick & Co. at the prison is at an end and he has a gun targeted at Michonne.
Has he changed? Will he shoot her?
My answer to both: No!!!
Over the past two weeks I've found that I ... I *
I don't know how to say this so I'm just going to spit it out* ... I've felt some sympathy for him. Not a lot, and only in
very short moments. Split seconds. I've also had moments of thinking that he's changed. Also only very quick moments though. In a couple of bursts and then it's over.
The trouble is, his story's been so intriguing I've literally been unable to blink throughout both episodes. I've also been curious about the fact that he's spooning a Maggie lookalike.
His new girlfriend Lilly looks so similar to Maggie I've been wondering if it's coincidence or intentional on the part of the show and decided that it's intentional. An homage to Maggie and how awful he was to her. As if he's trying to redeem himself through Lilly - which of course he can't because he definitely hasn't changed.
It was very clear during Monday's episode that he's exactly the same as he's always been, except even worse. He's become darker,
more twisted, more mad, more evil.
As a result he isn't going to pull the trigger and kill Michonne. For starters it would be a huge problem for the show because she's so super there's no way she can die. Yes, big characters die on the show but it won't happen to her. And if it does, it won't be now.
Also, The Governor's going to want to keep her alive to give him something to live for. Not because he's forgiven her - no, no! - but because she provides him with someone to hate. He feeds on his vendetta. He needs it and very probably won't be able to live without it. Michonne's the final connection with his daughter. The symbol of his rage at the fact that he lost her.
In a nutshell, he won't kill Michonne because he's even more insane than he was before.
