Three shows to lookout for on Cape Town TV

What you see when you really look at the Cape Town City Hall ceiling.

On Tuesday night Cape Town TV took over the City Hall in the build-up to the launch of the channel on DStv.

It goes live on DStv Channel 263 this Thursday (10 October) at 10h00 so the evening was a combo celebration of the launch and also, CTV's 5th birthday. I hotfooted through to the party to see what was going on for us - I had no idea what to expect and within moments of arriving I found myself swept up into three new TV shows.

48hOURS TV

Turns out Liezel van der Westhuizen's headlining a new show called 48hOURS TV. It's the TV version of the newspaper The Next 48hours that covers Cape Town, Durban and Jozi and gives news on happenings and things to do in each city.

The TV show goes out-and-about to see what's hott-t-t-t in Cape Town and premiered on the channel last week. As I arrived at the shindig Liezel spotted me and pulled me into the lair of her chair to interview me for it - asked me things like what I think about CTV and what blows my hair back about the Mudda City.

During our interview - had deja vu to our banter on Survivor Xtra.

Liezel's co-hosting the show with newcomer presenter Nicole Biondi who's eyeballs have flash mania ...

No-no, it's not a wink, it's the impact of the flash that Nicole says she fights to control. We took about four takes like this.

The show's on CTV on Thursdays at 19h00 and repeats on Saturdays at 20h00.

TaxiVision

"Lookin' out the combi window."

Soli and his production company are doing two shows for CTV that spin-off from Taxi Radio. The first is called TaxiVision and features a medley of guests who chatter as if they were on a taxi.

The idea behind it is that when people pay a taxi fee, everyone's who's on the taxi is equal - not divided by the car they drive or other social or economic factors.

One of the upcoming guests who'll be catching the taxi with them is Mamphela Ramphele. The series premiered about three months ago and airs on Wednesdays at 18h00 with a repeat on Fridays at 20h00.

4 x vanity cases doing the Zoolander.

Vanity Case

Their second show's called Vanity Case and it's about trends and fashion. It features a mix of fashion flashes by regular folk and schlebs so they feature people who they spot and find out about their look.
