On Sunday night (1 September) Carte Blanche rises high to toast the show's 25th birthday.

They won't be smoking a celebratory bong but rather, they'll be hosting the episode from Africa's tallest structure: the Telkom Jo'burg Tower. The Tower's been closed since 1981 - when it was still called the Hillbrow Tower.  No-one's been able to see the view from it since then ...

Word from the show is that they're doing it because it ties in with the show's long-time slogan: "You have the right to see it all," - including the view from the tower.

He'll be joined by the rest of the presenting team and also, the behind-the-scenes journalists who are responsible for many of the show's stories.

We've never seen many of them so they'll be showing face and giving their views too. Together everyone's going to look at the view from the Tower, show it to us and relive highlights from across the series' 25 years - the people, the criminals, the scandals, the real world impact of the the show etc.

They're also going to be giving away a car as a prize - that the winner will keep i.e. it's not a terrible loan car prize. It's a Volvo S60 T3:

Not too shabby.

They'll also be giving away 25 copies of a commemorative book that's been written Carte Blanche stalwart journalists Jessica Pitchford who's Managing Editor of the show.

It's called Carte Blanche: The Stories Behind the Stories and gives a behind-the-scenes account of the experiences of the producers and presenters on the show - how they compile the stories, the challenges etc.

The episode will be on at the usual time, 19h00.
