The Wild to wrap in double bill finale special

Connie Ferguson who plays Marang Lebone, snapped at the launch of The Wild in early April, 2011.

As reported on TVSA last year, M-Net's on location soapie The Wild has been cancelled after a two year run.

The soapie officially signs out at the end of March this year and will bid farewell to viewers in a one hour finale special on Thursday, 28 March.

The special starts at the show's usual time on M-Net: at 19h00 on M-Net Satellite, at 18h00 on M-Net Terrestrial.

A headsup that it continues on Mzansi Magic at 20h00 for Season 2 as it started later on the channel.

Word from an insider close to the show is that the special will end the soapie with a bang and will tie up all of the storylines - none of the story arcs will be left open for interpretation or a possible return of the series i.e. the series is definitely over.

When the news of the cancellation was first announced M-Net said that the M-Net channels will be working on spin-offs with decreased operating costs. The cost of the producing the show has been extensive because it's filmed at a game lodge, located about an hour and a half outside of Jozi. Moving the show to a studio in town in a spin-off series would make it more cost effective.

There's no confirmation that this will happening though. Word from our source is that no final decision has been reached yet.

How do you feel about it? Should there be a spin-off or will it be better for M-Net to launch a new soapie instead?

From the start producing a soapie for premium subscribers wasn't logical considering that most subscribers are compact subscribers. I am sure Inkaba is doing better than the wild on mnet. I am going to miss the soap hope they bring the whatever studio thingie they are talking about. My 7 oclocks are never going to be the same. Hope they bring something interesting.

Good thing I never watched this soapie.  Apparently MNet has confirmed that they’ve commissioned a new drama series that will be produced by Shona and Connie Ferguson called Black Diamonds and is expected to be on air by mid 2013.

Oh..and one of the sunday newspapers has reported that the cast of 'the wild' is in legal battle with producers..for terminating their contracts.
Hope they all find gigs post the wild.
