Moscow 2008 fuelling Chelsea’s Champions League redemption - live on SuperSport
The pain and misery of that fateful night in Moscow in 2008 will be the fuel that reignites the flames that have flickered in the bellies of Chelsea players for the past four years as they seek Champions League redemption against Bayern Munich on Saturday.
SuperSport will broadcast the match live in High Definition across Sub-Saharan Africa as an estimated 300 million worldwide television audience is expected to tune in to the game.
Even though the final is officially considered a neutral match, the home comforts Bayern will enjoy on the night -playing in their own stadium - and the use of their regular changing room - will spur them on to become the first team since Inter Milan in 1965 to win European football’s top prize on home soil.
SuperSport’s broadcast will start at 6pm with a review of the finalist’s passage to the Munich showpiece.
At 7pm Robert Marawa will sit down with Sammy Kuffour, a Champions League winner with Bayern, plus Gary Bailey, Terry Paine and Shaun Bartlett, to preview the match, building up to the 8.45pm kick-off.
During the build-up, SuperSport will cross live to Nigeria, Nairobi Kenya and Cape Town to gather the views and predictions of fans across the continent.
Also live on SuperSport this weekend is the richest football match in the world, the Championship play-off.
Winning it is worth at least £90 million. The promoted team will receive more than £40 million worth of broadcast rights income, gate takings and up to £48 million in the next four seasons even if they were relegated from the top flight next season.
On Sunday, Series A champions, Juventus face Napoli in the Coppa Italia final looking to put the cherry on top of what has been a peerless league campaign.
