In June HISTORY (DStv 254) brings you:

NEW SERIES

UNDERWATER UNIVERSE
Starts Saturday 2 June @ 20:30

Underwater Universe

This new limited series continues to explore the fascinating dark side of the Ocean. Four episodes present the complete and definitive story of the world's oceans through the prism of its Five Deadly Forces ...Tides and Currents, Pressure, Waves, and Predators.

These are the ocean's unpredictable governing powers, deadly forces that have brought terror and destruction throughout history.

Each episode explores a different deadly force while mapping its awesome past and contemporary presence throughout the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern and Arctic Oceans.

SEEKING SALVAGE

Starts Sunday 3 June @ 21:25

seeking salvage

Salvage hunters deal in everything from old bricks to stained glass windows, architectural antiques, old cattle troughs, gas lamps, radiators, railway sleepers. If there’s a market for it, they’ll buy it.

They are the recession beneficiaries, snapping up and reclaiming old stuff from liquidated companies, disused hospitals, demolition sites, farm outbuildings and office blocks and finding a ready clientele of buyers from antiques dealers to property developers and ordinary homeowners.

This a fascinating and rich world, full of great characters, lovely locations, extraordinary items, absorbing back stories, the cut and thrust of deals being done, a counter-intuitive take on tough economic times and, for the first time in a long while, a warm-hearted factual series set in a blue collar male world in the North.

Two salvage companies fight to bring home the profits in north-west England. Whether it's a marble statue or 5,000 bricks, the pressure's on to find, restore and sell.

TOP SHOT
Starts Wednesday 6 June @ 20:30

Top Shot

This new reality competition show takes aim at legendary tales of marksmanship. From Annie Oakley to William Tell, Top Shot taps into amazing feats of sharp-shooting, where teams and individuals shoot it out for a $100,000 prize package.

Contenders face challenges inspired by real events, from medieval crossbow contests to Wild West gun fights to modern-day sniper missions. Every episode reveals the weapons, technologies and tactics of a different era, while high-speed HD cameras capture each skilful execution with breath-taking precision.

CHASING MUMMIES
Starts Saturday 16 June @ 21:25

Chasing Mummies

The series follows legendary archeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass as he pursues one of the most challenging and exciting jobs in the world: discovering new archeological finds while managing 250 digs throughout Egypt.

The cameras will be right there as he and his team unearth new treasures, ranging from incredibly preserved mummies to, perhaps, Cleopatra's tomb. This unique series shows archeology as never seen before: unfiltered and transparent, revealing and amusing, exasperating and dangerous.

Viewers will see not only the whirlwind, international life led by Dr. Hawass but also the hardships and very real risks facing the teams and camera crews as they work in Egypt's scorching deserts and valleys.
