Best Washing Powder Awards (22 April)

Coming up on Carte Blanche Consumer this Thursday (22 April):

Brand Fakers

Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Prada are just a few of many brands marketed to convince consumers that wearing them will reinforce their High Street social identity. But fake branded items are everywhere, often resembling the real thing. So, can brand pro's tell them apart? Carte Blanche Consumer put some shopaholics to the test.

Producer: Hayley Horan

Terenure Villas

Walls so damp they fall over; cracks you can step through, crooked sliding doors, roofs not built to plan... just some of the issues faced by consumers when signing up with builders who have neither skills nor integrity to do a job properly. Terenure Villas on the East Rand is one example where home-owners bought off-plan. Carte Blanche Consumer lays down the spirit level.

Presenter: Bonita Gorrie-Nuttall
Producer: Este de Klerk
Journalist: Amalia Christoforou

Wishy Wash

TV commercials constantly tell us bright whites are thanks to specific brands of washing powder. But how on earth do you know which work best? Carte Blanche Consumer pegged four brands of washing powder to the test line.

Producer: Hayley Horan

Carte Blanche Consumer is on M-Net on Thursdays at 19h00.

Was just talking to someone about washing powders at the weekend - OMO comes out tops. Especially when you go from Pick n Pay No Name brand to OMO.

I always thought the No Name powder was OMO repackaged but it definitely sin't - it leaves powdery streaks on clothes - 'spesh black t-shirts.

It's funny because Omo, Surf, Sunlight & Mag Mag are produced by one company...unilever/leverbrothers. real competition is between the above & Skip. Buying off-plan is risky, hence the cheaper price.

Tashi my wardrobe is 80 percent black and that skip intelligent 4 black clothes is the isht.it even improved the blks that were fucked up by sunlight.its pricey but the trick is to use it only on your clothes and still gooi Omo 4 the other person who doesnt wana get near the washing machine, they usually cant tell the difference.

I never liked the smell of Skip but after reading this I'm going to try the one for black clothes.
