Garth Confirmed For Survivor SA

Former Gladiators strongman and TVSA celebrity blogger Garth Collins has been confirmed as one of celebrities taking part on Survivor SA - The Celebrity version.

Garth Collins is a South African actor, comedian and MC best known as Granite on the SABC3 game show Gladiators, starring in all five seasons and Springbok Challenge 2, from 1999-2001.

He was one of the celebrity contestants on the fifth season of the SABC2 reality dance competition Strictly Come Dancing, from September to December, 2008. His professional dance partner was former winner Hayley Bennett.

Then, as a loyal supporter, I followed a link on my FB messages... and the first thing I saw on the wall of that Supporters Group...said....

Hey there everyone,
Once again I am humbled by the enormous amount of support that has come flooding in from all over the country. I knew going in that Survivor was going to be tough and had prepared myself for the long haul. Who would have guessed that I’d be flattened by a case of cellulitis? I most certainly wouldn’t have put money on it. However, as John Lennon said, “life is what happens while you’re making other plans” and it most certainly did. So here with my apologies to you all for not making it any further than day three, my goal was not reached on this one and I am seriously disappointed with that but your ongoing support has done so much for my spirit, thank you.
Unfortunately the South African Guide Dog Association has lost out on half a million rand which would have paid in full for ten, yes you read that correctly TEN, guide dogs to be trained and placed with needy individuals. Jackie and I had a meeting with them today to see what we can do to help them make up this loss. We have come up with a few really nice ideas and once we have researched them thoroughly and put the plans into action we will let you all know about it. I am sure that, being the awesome people that you are, you will all get a great kick out of making a difference.
