The shrewd, 44-year reign of Queen Elizabeth I is explored in this four-part historical drama.
Imprisoned in the Tower of London after being charged with treason and conspiracy by Queen Mary, young Elizabeth defies authority by maintaining her Protestant faith as England falls into chaos as a result of Henry VIII's historical break with the Catholic Church.
Though both are bonded by blood to the oft-married Henry VIII, Elizabeth's and Mary's stubborn wills clash when Mary vows to reunite with Rome and the unbreakable Elizabeth makes the potentially fatal decision not to bend to Catholic pressure.
Unexpectedly thrust onto the throne following Mary's untimely death, Elizabeth struggles to maintain control of a religiously divided nation as numerous enemies conspire against her and the pressures of a politically advantageous marriage become too powerful to resist.
With every eligible bachelor in the land vying for her hand in marriage, Elizabeth offers nothing but rejection as she pines for the companionship of her handsome childhood friend Robert Dudley.

Dit Wat Stom Is is an Afrikaans drama series by Franz Marx (creator of Egoli). The show centres round 20-year old Elri Dekker, who has the world at her feet.
She’s blonde, beautiful and the heiress to a multi-million rand company. But her interest lies with fashion and boyfriends rather than with a mighty business empire.
Her elder sister’s pending wedding to a wealthy doctor is a thorn in her side that she’d like to get over and done with, so that she can continue her quiet, carefree life in a wealthy suburb with her dad and younger brother.
Jan Meyer is a student who’s willing to drop his studies so he can raise the baby he fathered with his ex-girlfriend, Melanie. The only problem is that Melanie refuses to allow Jan to have anything to do with the child that she wants to give up for adoption - she swears he is not the father of the child.
When tragedy strikes, Elri soon realises that her life of luxury has been nothing but an illusion. Then her and Jan’s paths cross and they become so intertwined that there is no turning back.
