Ja nee, there are great shows, then the are shows that are great (concept and story wise) but are let down by the writing and production team. APCH is more and more becoming the latter.More of that later though, this episode focused on the great master plan by Mavesta to get his sister back. That he would use Sphiwe to infiltrate Moferefere's gang then somehow ,Sphiwe would turn into Clint Eastwood and shoot (fake to shoot) his way out of his enemies stronghold.
We had the ussual moral dilema, with 'situation" now haunting Sphiwe instead of his ussual victim Cassius. Should he ,shouldn't he go and rescue the damsel in distress? Who cares cause we all know he was going to do it ,so why do the dance? Then was the whole idea of using Hudson as a way of Sphiwe getting into the gang.Surely by now Moferefere knows who Sphiwe is,actually Blues should know that, since the guys have all the intelligence on Mavestas business. Plus Sphiwe and Cas' once played bodyguard for Mavesta when he was wounded. For Blues and Moferefere not to know who Sphiwe is, was just not logical in my books.
Then there was the Swati girl ,am I the only person who feels Swati sounds like Zulu as spoken by a little kid who is trying to learn Zulu.Anyhow the Swati Prostitute all of a sudden has a golden heart moment, what motivated it I don't know. All of a sudden she wants to help Sphiwe rescue his former lover. The poor girl even gets a bullet, proving no good deed goes unpunished espicially if it does not make any sense to begin with. What was the girl expecting, she was going to help Sphiwe escape with Precious and go back and work for Moferefere like nothing happened !/? Did the writers hnestly think we will buy that. People seriously.I'm not even going to touch on the re-apperance of Cassius just as he is needed, coincedence or just bad scripting, you decide.
At least there was some saving grace from last nights episode, even though it did not give us the joyful reunion between Precious and mavesta but Sphiwes little moral stand at the end was commandable. Instead of taking blood money as payment, he gave Mavesta a lesson in the evils of exploiting the poor and the destitute. So were do we go from here? Frankly I do know and I don't care; Face off with Moferefere? Revenge attack by Mavesta? Or a new road to reformation for the guluva ? I don't know, the story does not even give us any possiblity or incilination of whats next .I won't be surprised if they concentrate on a different story next week, maybe Mhloti and her boring love triangle.
Which brings me to my issue with the series so far, theres no overaching story that joins the episodes together, from one episode to the next. The stories are becoming too episodic, where it's hard to follow one story or charcter development from one episode to the other. For example what has happened to Lindiwe, she has totally fallen off the world of APCh after we had to invest so much in her in the begining. But the worse things is some of the character choices defy logic. Why are characters made to do things that normally they wouldnt do, or even make choices that are in conflict with the story or the character's reason of being? We have Sphiwe playing gangster, how believeable is that? We have the prositute girl playing hero ,why should she? Maybe I'm getting more and more jaded with the show but i was not impressed with the show at all.By the time it ended ,I was like is that it?Eish people know how to ruin great shows.
