A so-so episode of the Lab that revealed insight into some characters whilst at the same time it lays more foundation for the fall for some of the characters. We got to know why Pamela is so guarded about his brother. Explored more daddy issues with Monty and sunk deeper into Faith, Jaws and Mingus’s unholy love triangle that left one poor kid heartbroken.
Pamela's little secret of dodging and changing jobs every now and then was finally revealed and yes its not a domestic violence. But her dark secret is her brothers mental disorder, which seems to be a cross between bipolar and something else.
That seems to take a heavy toll on her and that’s why she did not want poor little and nosey Tumi to get involved with her. Cause judging from the bruises Pam had a week or so ago the mans mood swings can be very violent. But Pamela was not the only one dealing with private life matters that have a bearing on ones professional life.
Monty found himself questioning his relationship to Jaws, as he finaly confronts him with his illegal dealings. The only problem was that accusations were mostly based on a gut feeling rather than empirical evidence and Jaws ,once more, used his charm and relations to get out of yet another sticky mess.
Which really makes one wonder what will happen to Jaws when the cookie starts to crumble, cause he has lied to almost everyone he considers dear or calls a friend. Which is a credit to Fana Mokoena who in those little looks and gestures conveys the message that Jaws is very aware of the grave he keeps digging for himself.
His shaddy dealings are not limited to the lab but they also extend to the very fine looking Moshidi, whose seems to be falling back in love with the deceitful Jaws. But then there’s the issue of Faith Deliza.
It seems Jaws can’t let go of her and she can’t let go of him because of their business relationship that comes with certain “personal” privileges. Poor Faith had to give up on ever having a loving relationship with Mingus due to her shaddy work. I wonder how is Jaws planning to balance relationship with Faith and Moshidi’s character at the same time.
Monty also seemed to be struggling with coming to terms with fatherhood.Throughout the episode he kept pushing off the baby to the partner. Mostly due to his own issues of inadequacy brought by the relationship he had with his own father, probably he believes he can never be a good father since he was not fatheredwell to begin with. But I loved how they wrapped up this angle with him and the baby spending some valuable quality time, thanks to Andre trickery.
The more I see of Monty the more I think he is the Labs associate who bites the dust at the end of the season as hinted by episode 1 of this current season. He is so trying to be good, he looks like a lamb with the target on its back and it has no clue whatsoever.
As for Mingus, it seems he will be having suppers by himself since Faith has kicked him to the curb. At least the little cousin is there to comfort him. But one wonders what’s going to happen once the rotten can of worms that Faith and Jaws are busy sealing blows up in the Lab. I hope we starting moving in that direction soon.sweet
