Jaws plays the devils advocate and the devils henchman, whilst Mingus plays Daddy to his antisocial cousin.Jaws machivelian character reached new lows last night as he engineered the downfall of his ex-wifes new boo. By planting pornography on the mans PC and getting the poor man sacked for it and then cuddling up nicely to the ex wife and wanting to move back in,"for the kids sake,of course".
The worst part about all his scheme is that ,mr.boyfriend was actually a nice stand up chap.Who actually tried to help Jaws to get closer to his kids.Who let him in on bonding time with his eldest son,when he told him about the kid being bullied at school. This gave Jaws an excellent time to bond with his son ; to shine infront of the ex-wife and score free brownie points.Plus it gave us a nice light moment for Jaws,whereby for once we see him wth his guard down trying to show his son how to stand up to bullies. All this goodwill towards the man is sullied by his evil and corrupted soul that just wants to take and take. Jaws needs to learn boundries.He could not just settle for being a weekend dad,he needed to destroy the new defacto father figure so that he can ursurp his positon once more as alpha male in the household with teh big money bags. By the end of the episode ,it seems Monty is on to him,so how long will his duplicity and moral bankruptcy be left alone in the Lab,only time will tell.
On the lighter side Monty and his kissing buddy finaly get a kid without having to mount that creepy lesbian lady. I was actually hoping to see, between the two of them, who would actually do the deed. Of getting dirty with that awful lady. Then there was the b- story of Mingus and his awfully quiet cousin/nephew.Whom he has to take care of.It's seems Minguses mom just loves putting the guy in awkward situation,last night he droped this kid from nowhere onto minguses doorstep and the man is expected to look after the kid,just like that. It does not help that the kid is very reclusive and does not say much,just like Mingus, but will mingus cope (this is not a paid forline by the party that is known as COPE,its aa coinceidence) .The laugh out moment for me ,beside Jaws trying to teach his son how to fight back, was Mingus trying to bond with the little one over a kite. Seeing Mingus run around like that in zoo lake made my night.
In conclusion , last night episode had a very sly theme of fatherhood and the ties that bind; how certain people use those ties to reinforce attachment( ala Jaws and his family esp' the son) , how some use them as away of manipulating other people ( ala Jaws and the whole porn saga) and how rewarding they can be if one invests in them ( ala Monty and the new baby, Mingus and shut mouth kid). not a bad episode if I do say so myself.sweet
