The Lab : Eps 5

Off the bat last weeks episode was tighter than last night but the team of the Lab are still very good even on the off days. Last night we saw Jaws fall into the Jozi underworld go even deeper ; when he's gold shipment was hijacked/.We got to meet a lovely new character Mingus;'s new PA ( I forgot the tannie's name) who reveald more stuff about Pike (who seems to be a snake with a silver tongue) and Mingus speaks more vernacular lol.

By now pieces from episode 1 are now starting to emerge, for example we know that 1 of the lab members has been gunned down and is dead ( at this moment its starting to look more like Monty), we know it was due to Jaws shaddy dealings. The Afrikaaner ball breaker from last night, who jacked Jaws's load and was trying to muscle in on his deal with his DDG connections seem to fit into the threat that might have caused the bloodbath that is still to come. But we will have to wait and see.

As for the poor kid who was drowned , I think we were supposed to infer that the kid is somehow connected to Khabonina's character. Which led to the most awkward scene I've seen in ages on screen. That of her and Jaws kncocking boots as an attempt to soothe her sorrows.Although it was shot and edited quite cleverly it was awkward in the sense it came from nowhere, there was no build to it , no tension, just wam bam from nowhere.I understand it was not suppose to be a loving and caring experience but it just came from nowhere, maybe im too much of a sentimentalist.

Anyhow moving right along, Mingus and Mommy are actually very good together. I know some people on this site have issues with Mingus when he speaks vernacular ,but i find it very endearing. I just wonder with Mingus moving in with mommy does this mean more growing pains drama between them? And how will this impact on the general plot or is it more about character development than anything else? And can someone explain to me why did they drop MaAgnes as Mingus's mom?

Monty still seems to be stuck in his white man guilt issues and insecurities about the new SA but i wonder how having a child is going to solve all the issues he has? It will be interesting to see Monty and his beloved try to raise a child togetherthough. There was a nice touch on the promo for next weeks episode about their whole adoption saga. I'm interested in seeing how it unfolds. How Jaws and our dear Afrikaaner bad guy continue to co-exist in the story and to see how long will the marvelous, old school Aunty PA last  ( I love how she just presses everyones button). I hope they keep her on for as long as possible, her un-PC  demenour and her catty wit are just enchanting.plus I love thatshe continues to speak Afrikaans in ablack establishment, shes got balls. She kinda reminds me of some of the tannies in Klerksdorp, espicially the fashion sense. Anyhow that was my take.See ya next week

I'm really not getting into the lab this season, I've tried to watch all the episodes so far,  but i'm not feeling it. Last night i even opted to go and LOL on 198 with idols. Mara the way you put it here, it seems like I gave up too soon, I'll continue watching next week.

i tried watching, mara it requires concentration. So i opted to watch Tshisa, you don't need much to follow the story.

Ya neh, I also found myself switching between Tshisa, but opted to keep watching The Lab after the crippled dude's mother's vernacular (kufanele ubone udokotela, ngizofonela udokotela....hay) I just got bored.

Ja, last night did require a lot of concentration, i found the break in scene very interesting, where Jaws is woken up by the incessent sound of some foreign TV program from his TV...LOL....that was cool.
But what I did not understand was, where was his alarm system? on 2 occassions there's a break in at his house and he does not alert the alarm guys???

And for me the creepiest scene was Faith puking in the same bathroom with a dead body in the bathtub....I thought they do that elsewhere, not in the same room as the dead body!

And then does it mean that they thugs brought the body in that box....it's so small, that boy wouldn't fit in there.....LOL.....

Hey, TV bloopers!

And then i just wondered, so Jaws and Faith had drinks while waiting for their thugs to get the body - in the dark? they never switched the lights on? weird.

And then the suits....ahhhhhhh, shame someone atleast please get poor Mingus the right size. He looks like he' s wearing a "utla hola leyona" school boy blazer....

I liked his comment though when his mom complained about the place being filled with white people and Mingus said: "Mma, this is the North, white people can't afford it here, you'l be lucky to see them sweeping the road" ( or something like that)....I was like...."Ouch"!

And his mom, please forget about Soweto and just be happy your son bought a house ko di surburbs....i find her ungrateful!

The white tannie annoys me, typical, nosey old white ladies who insist on speaking afrikaans and being clock watchers....uyangibhora....looks like she actually wants to run the show....

@ tha-bang heh heh, think back to halle berry & billy bob thorntons horrific sex scene in her oscar winning performance 'monsters ball' .  maybe that was the inspiration -that whole 'pained sex' thing...
