Behind the Rainbow - Decoding The Myth

It came, it played and it passed, it got me thinking ; so dark is the con of the ANC that it has put over the country cause most that was covered in the doccie was very familiar to the South African audiance.Anyways those who've been paying attention anyhows ,ie the long friendship between Chief and Jiggaman, Thiboses clique menatlity and the fact that there struggle within the ANC is actually about power and individuals and has little to do with policy nor the general public.

But I believe the last point was highlighted very effectively that the shcism between Chief and Jiggaman has relegated policy development and implentation to the background and has put individuals at the fore. Now people are either voting fopr Jiggaman or against Thibos, its not about what the ANC is going to offer them. I believe in the long run its going to bite them in the butt come election time.

Cande you still listen to Metro?????? nc nc nc nc

Thabang - i'm glad the SABC showed the Documentary without censoring it....You are correct when you say that he new dispensation in SA politics is not about the policies, its just about the personalities involved......... No i will never vote for Zuma or No i will never vote for Mbeki....

It is very sad that the future of the country has been relageted to individual needs, but in anycase We should all be glad that everyone in our society is engaged in this political debate.

Big Thanks to Julius Malema for his utterances, now everyone is suddenly an expert in politics. I thank him because he has managed to engage our society in politics, he has managed to get young people of South Africa to take interest in politics. Thank You Julius..... (Can someone please hook me upi with this man, i would like to thank him in person)........

Kudos’ to SABC2 for not succumbing to the powers that be and showed the doccie without censoring. That was gripping stuff

It got me thinking about three things.
1. Are the sunset clauses coming to bite black South Africans in the butt
2. Is the truth to the conspiracy theories about Chris Hani’s death
3. Can the ANC admit to selling poor South African’s down the river for a quick buck like Ronnie Kasrils and Parlo Jordaan did yesterday.

<<<<<<1. Are the sunset clauses coming to bite black South Africans in the butt>>>>> Sunset clauses r neccessary in any negotiated setlements, its part of strategic negotiations...! What u do or not do later that becomes problematic! I do not believe 4 once that 'poorer South Africans are more poor now than they were b4 1994. If Zimbabweans (MDC) had accepted some compromises, the Zimbabweans would not be in the stuation they r in now, & MDC would be at better position to topple Mogabe with time...!

Is it feasible Teri to put the same person who oppressed you, an enemy you are fighting in the position to control your economy, defence, home affairs and justice system and expect them to toe the line and suddenly be interested in singing kumbaya and hold hands with you? All these structures happen to be the weakness in your armour.

The MDC came to the table but ZanuPF was only interested in letting them smell the food than give them a piece.

15 Dec 2008 09:20

@ Teri "I do not believe 4 once that 'poorer South Africans are more poor now than they were b4 1994."  Where in SA do you live? the number of unemployed people out there, and even though there are social grants, they are not much to help, so dear I have seen millions becoming poorer, it is sad that you have to rely on your beliefs when some of us has seen it.

I was always behind Thibos, but after last night it got me thinking...Dimago same here, I always saw him as an innocent person and was dragged in to the mud because of his "aloof" personality, but now I wonder who this man is. I liked how he refused to resort to popularism in his speech in Polokwane and remained the person he is. and they had to show us people sleeping with their mouths open, LOL.

One statement that was made by Maharaj left me to think, he said that the any political party is not evaluated by its intentions but by its outcomes. This made me realise that the ANC has adopted the freedom charter as it policies, but those policies are far from reality and its intentions and outcomes are not even close.

I did not know much about economic policies but from RDP, to GEAR and finally BEE. I liked how it was dissected and an analysis of how each one had flaws. Seeing that JZ wants to go back to RDP policies. what difference will they now have, and with what resources will these be achieved?

15 Dec 2008 13:03

maar nam, i expected a lot from realist.......a 1 page analysis would have been fine, 2 page would have been great......

Timing or no timing, people like me were not around during the Polokwane Conference so it was nice to see what ANC delegates were thinking and doing in that conference.......

I'm just glad that our Society is taking an interest in politics again......it was very shocking adn hard to comprehend the lack of interest in Politics by young people.....

Renegade
15 Dec 2008 13:05

we all know that we cant just choose A n C!

I love that ad, well done again to Nandos!

On the doccie:
I was sort of watching, and sort of preparing for work, but what was important for me was:

1. Like Dimago, I'm starting to rethink Mbeki, as well as the Chris Hani conspiracy. When they were talking about the firing, and Zuma was being interviewed, Zuma made some valid points about how Mbeki was already saying Zuma must have his day in court, when he was not charged yet. For someone to say that, at that level, it comes out clearly as an instruction, and while Mbeki might not have meant in that way, I question that whole firing.

2. It scares me that we are literally at the hands of the people we vote into power. They decided how this country will function, who will get what and so on. I have always had this worry, but what really made it worse for me last night was the realisation that if we want to be heard by government, it seems necessary that we go to the lengths that the people of Khutshong went to, because if that violence had not sparked, I doubt that any engaging would have taken place.
However, what is a bigger issue for me is that ANC has it's biggest support in the ever so loya rural voters, whom I doubt consider policies and all sorts when voting.

3. Politics is a dirty game. Ridiculously dirty. It is survival of the fittest. Mbeki in his prime when JZ was still growing facial hair seemed unstopable, and for him to come to this...it's chilling stuff.

4. Promises...Eish, I really do not see why a goverment that is running the country and is contesting an election should be promising new things. What I would like to see is them campaigning on what the ANC has achieved, not what it is going to achieve, surely that's a stronger manifesto. Because to me, it speaks of failures, not Mbeki's failures, but the ANC's failures.

One more thing: to this day, I do not know who I am going to vote for. I am trying to keep myself informed, but I am finding no joy.
God save South Africa from itself

That would make politics interesting for you if you haven’t decided which party to vote for.
That would make politics interesting for you if you haven’t decided which party to vote for.
Hang in there and eventually you will find the party that will resonate with your objectives, that is if you have any.
