In last night episode of APCH we had Cassius and Sphiwe playing goons, Mhloti turning into Dr.Quin Medicine woman (from nowhere) and some dumb story decisions that left me feeling very indiferrent.I don't know if the guys were trying to go for the calm before the storm feeling,but last night episode was a total waste of time.
For one since when did Mhloti have valuable experience in treating gun shot wounds? Why didn't Sphiwe's new squeeze just walk up to the mans house instead of walking around Jozi with her best sour face on? Why didn't Moferefere and Blues come and finish off Sylvester? The only answer i can come up with is padding. The writers and producers are padding the story so that it can fit the long winded series format ( i wont be surprised if its supposed to be 12/24 episodes).Hence such a dead episode
Aside from that Cassius and Siphiwe are always cool to watch together,the two have nice chemistry. Their little goon act kinda reminded me of Michael Corleone in the 1st Godfather although theirs is more comical than the Michael's.But the duo hit all the right dramatic and comedic notes very nicely yesterday. Then there's Hudson, the man is not bad as a henchman. He carried the scared goon very well but it was a pity it was never paid off nicely. There was never any form of confrantation or sign of aggression from Moferefere's team.Which was a pity.Actually the episode did not build to anything which was a pity. Even in Sphiwe's love triangle dilema there was no build.At no point did I get the sense that Sphiwe is worried about not seeing his girl until the last second. People were disappearing with no consequence ,like the guys who bribed the guard what was the point for that!?
Anyhow, Sylvester is back,after Mhloti's moralising last night the question is: is he going to continue to be the bada$$ of the show or will last night act as a damascus experience for him? Will he let Moferefere run Jozi? I doubt it.But hopefully next week we will get some answers and not padding.
P.S. congrats to SABC for playing the right episode ,thats three weeks in a row at least our tv license money is going somewhere.sweet
