The Observer: Whats Up with Clark & Lex?

I have become very suspicious of Clark and Lex’s storyline over the seasons. It has truly given me a valid reason to have suspicion. Whilst watching “The Talented Mr. Ripley”, it started to make sense. Smallville has homoerotic subtext and a lot of them. So I then decided to take a closer at the show and its homoerotic stars.

This show is riddled with studly men such as Eric Johnson, Jensen Ackles, Sam Jones III, John Schneider, Joe Morton, John Glover, and myriad other drool-worthy guest stars. Not to forget the string of female’s stars and guest actors, who seem to be perfect candidates of the fashion runway with those waist sizes of theirs. Haven’t you wondered why the show does not have normal looking people, your average beauty and waist sizes not to mention imperfection.

Think about it for a moment.... I have observed the show through-out its premier and these are my findings.

At the top of this “Talented Mr. Ripley” influenced blog, is Lex and Clark. For some strange reason, their story seems to be a matter of fate bringing them together. It reads like a romantic novel if you pay close attention. Grunted Clark is not Matt Damon gone crazy, although I believe he is very much capable of killing the very wealthy Lex. Do you see the similarities with Ripley.

The tale of Clark and Lex
Lex crushes his car and the tall dark and handsome Clark comes to his rescue. Just as we thought things could not get any gayer, Clark saves Lex's life by giving him CPR (which began with a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation scene in the first episode) before he even knew his name.

Lex never let the relationship that started out like a Hollywood romantic classic go down. He helped Clark down after being tied up and he remains Clark's favorite maniac in a Porsche. He (Lex) thinks that Clark can make a career out of saving lives and he doesn't mind driving all the way to the farm just to ask Clark a question, whilst Clark returns the favor by zapping to the Mansion just to see Lex. I wonder what they get up to.

When Lex said: "Trust me, Clark. Our friendship is going to be the stuff of legends"-it was clear that this boys have a plan and they are going to see it through. What a commitment. Clark remains comforted by the fact that he may not be able to save the world but he did save Lex and that counts!!

It is also interesting how Lex is part of the Kent family. They are, after all his in-laws and he will not allow anything to happen to them and their farm. That keeps him in Clark’s good books.

Those who continue to watch the show know very well that both of these guys, are very jealous...in their own way. When Clark is dating anyone, Lex is troubled. When Lex is dating anyone, Clark is worried they are not right for Lex. Let us now forget those cute man-hugs they share and the fact that the passenger seat in the Porsche is made for Clark.

Remember when Lex was kicked out of the Mansion, the first place Lex went was the Kent's and he had Clark’s room. Not to mention the fact that Lex is obsessed with Clark what with that entire basement dedicated to all things Clark. He also enjoys going to school to see Clark play football because he knows Clark would do anything for him. Lex would also do the same without blinking an eye. How many times has Lex covered Clark’s butt (no pun intended) by using his power and influence (really no pun intended). Hahahahahahahah…. I know! It’s just irresistible…..

Not to mention the fact that they want each other.....badly!!! Even in his Christmas fantasy Lex could not help but think of Clark since he thinks Clark is extraordinary. He should be, can you image the stuff he does seeing that he is an alien and all. It is also interesting how the producers make Clark's face light up whenever he thinks of Lex. The most fascinating lines was "we have a future Clark" by Lex., "Three months on a deserted island, and it was almost worth it to see the look on (Clark's) face right now."-Lex.

When Lex lost his mind, Clark did not care....he loved him anyway!! Some worthy of note facts about their relationship is that if anyone hurt Clark, Lex would transfer them to Siberia probably in a coffin, whilst Clark trusts Lex implicitly. Lex makes Clark smile and vice versa.

They are reportedly referred to as the “Clex” as in Clark and Lex. I also think the fact that Lex's name is just an alphabet away from what they both want to do is very funny. (L)ex // (S)ex

Female homosexuality has been portrayed exploitatively on Smallville. In two instances, female meteor freaks sexually targeted Lana. In the episode "Visage", criminal shape-shifter Tina, in love with Lana, impersonated Lana's boyfriend in order to get close to her, and in "Facade", another meteor freak, Abigail, kissed Lana, causing Lana to experience horrible hallucinations.

The Observer presents
“The Clex”
an episode titled
“Love In The Barn”

starring Clark Kent and Lex Luthor
_______________

Lex: "Clark you know I Love you"

-----

Clark: "Whats wrong, why are you saying that Lex?"

-----

Lex: "Lately I feel like we are drifing apart."

-----

Clark: "No! We are not. What makes you think that?"

---------

Lex: "Calm down clark, I am just concerned"

Lex: "About our future. together"

------------

Clark: "I am not worried. I know you love me and that's fine with me Lex. I am happy!"

---------

Lex: Is it really fine Clark?

----------

Clark: "All I want is to give you the world and for you to stay with me at the mansion. Is that too much to ask?
"

---------

"Clark takes a moment to think to himself"

Clark shouts..."Lex, wait"

----------

Clark: "I already have you and I don't need to be at the Mansion to prove that I really love you"

-----------

Lex: "Clark... you don’t have to prove anything"

----------

Lex: "I just want you there with me. Is that hard to understand?"

--------

Clark: "But I love you Lex and we are close"

Lex leaves Clark wondering....

-- The End --

We rest assured in the knowledge that Smallville is absolutely rife with homoerotic innuendo, looks, dialogue, plot contrivances, props, and scene angles-- especially between, but not limited to, Clark and Lex.
