The Top 6 of High School Musical: Spotlight SA have spent the week rehearsing for Saturday's performance show, themed round Musical Theatre.

On Tuesday (9 September) they learned that they'd each be mentored in preparation for the show and also perform a duet with their mentor.

Carmen will be singing For Good, from the Broadway show Wicked, with South African leading lady Kate Normington.

Popularly considered one of South Africa's leading theatre performers of musical theatre, cabaret and jazz, Kate's performances include starring roles in local productions of Sweeney Todd, Sweet Charity, Camelot and My Fair Lady.

She's also paid her dues on the West End, starring in Sunset Boulevard, Aspects of Love, Into the Woods and Annie. Since returning to SA she was most recently seen in the local production of Hairspray.

Carmen will also sing a solo number: On My Own from Les Miserables.

The rest of the Top 6 are paired as follows:

Tshepi's singing What About Love? from Oprah Winfrey’s new musical The Color Purple alongside Buyi Zama, who played Rafiki in the worldwide tour of The Lion King.

Tshepi’s solo song is What I Do For Love from A Chorus Line.

Danni's singing Last Night Of The World from Miss Saigon with theatre performer Robert Finlayson. Her solo: You Must Love Me from Evita.

Daniel's singing Starlight Sequence from the musical Starlight Express with Kwaito star Zwai Bala. His solo song: No Matter What,  from Whistle On The Wind.

David's singing Without Love from Hairspray alongside Tamara Dey, the pop diva who recently played Magenta in the revival of The Rocky Horror Show. David’s solo song: Any Dream Will Do from Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Lyle's What You Own, from Rent with Heinz Winckler. Lyle’s solo: Footloose from the musical of the same name.

They'll all strutt their stuff on Saturday (13 September) at 19h00.
