I wrote this article on Wednesday evening after the live recording. But after Saturday (
contestants will know why) I wanted to edit it, but I decided it was going to be wrong of me to change my original thoughts and I decided to publish the original article.
I’m sure all of you have always heard celebrities saying - I was accompanying my friend for some audition when the director/producer asked me to audition, and I instead of my friend got the job on the spot. When I heard one of the judges was running late - I was praying deep down that she was not going to make it so that the Producers could ask me to stand in for her. Damn I was so disappointed when she walked in as if she was the Queen from one of Gibson Kente’s theatre shows. Maybe my dream of being a TV star will happen the day Robert Mugabe steps down as Zim President.
Anyway, judges for this week were Vicky (
Shame sisi I hope it’s not true that you lost your voice) I didn’t want to ask her about the allegations of her losing her voice. She looked good for someone without a voice. Another judge was Deborah Fraser (
seeing that she’s going through a family crisis) I won’t say much about her, except to tell her that, whoever lied, calling her a DIVA was HIGH on something – she’s a DIVA wanna-be. And the 3rd judge was Tata Tsholo Leokaoke, from Lesedi FM (I hope I was correct this time, if not – leave me alone, I’m stressed – it’s my first day at work since June 2007).
Four contestants’ names were called (Lungisani, Kgotso, Berlinda and Shannon).
I told you that there were surprises coming-up, first was to find out that Lungisani had the most number of votes (
clearly KZN people have airtime, otherwise how would you explain it?), next shock was to learn that Kgotso, Berlinda and Shannon received the least number of votes. Judging by their last week’s performance, I wasn’t expecting this outcome.
Tshepiso and Lungisani were there people I thought would receive the least number of votes. Why? Because I thought Tshepiso couldn’t sing, and Lungisani’s ZCC moves were a distraction. Boy was I wrong!!!!!!
Performances Theme – Top 10 singing songs from Top Female Gospel artists (I thought women’s day was in August).
Kgotso (Mr Thabo Mr Thabo)
8/10 because he sang one of my fav sis Ribs’s song – maar the boy is an actor. What was up with the ring and the moves? Were you trying to do a Vuyo Mokoena or Jabu Hlongwana? I honestly think you are using a fake voice. Please use your natural voice – maybe you won’t be in the bottom 3 again. In fact do whatever you want to do – you going home soon. I miss you my friend, please give me a call.
Shannon
10/10 – I wish I had friends and contacts in the right places to organize you a recording deal NOW. Damn, you came to the party sisi. Your performance was AWESOME. Vicky was lost for words hence she first mumbled some ridiculous comment, Vicky – please get a life.
Berlinda 10/10. I don‘t care what they say about you being shy or nervous. You sang your heart out. Great performance sisi. Do they want a Rebecca from you? Don’t they know its hard being a Capetonian in Jozi? Don’t they know capetonians like us are not used seeing so many black people in suburbs? They must just leave us alone. Kanane what’s the name of the Rehab centre visited by Chilli M (I think I need to be admitted).
Lusanda 8/10. Great idea gone bad. I like the fact that you came out of your comfort zone by trying a new style. It’s a bold move, but it was not as good as your last performance. Please put some sense into Ntokozo – VERSATILITY……….. C-mon people, if you think you are a singer then be brave enough to try something new like Lusanda. Good attempt bhuti.
Damn I’m giving good scores today – let’s see if it will last. Tshepiso
Ag for once I’m going to be nice because I clearly know nothing about music –
6/10. Trust me this is a very good score.
Ntokozo 3/10 – she actually deserves 9/10 but I had to deduct
5 points because she’s so predictable. And
1 because of that hideous thing on her head. Clearly she didn’t take note when I was talking to Pertunia. I’m going to repeat myself (Get rid of that mop in your head ASAP) otherwise NO one will take you serious. Great outfit by the way.
Lungisani
5/10 – I don’t know what the people voting for you were smoking, but I want it. Clearly they misunderstood the voting process. The hotline is not a JZ Fan club PEOPLE. It’s for the next Gospel STAR. Love your jacket bhuti. When are we (I, Kgotso, Tshepiso and Lungisani) going out for Drinks? I don’t mean water, I’m talking about over 18’s drinks. Damn I haven’t had alcohol since 2002.
By the way, your performance was pathetic.
Talking about Drinks? Do Gospel stars drink alcohol (and no Rebecca is not a Gospel star)?????
Mzoxolo 8/10. There was just something wrong in your performance bhuti. I think you can do way better than that. I guess it was not your day, because you have been consistent from day 1. Watch the tape again and you’ll see what I’m talking about. If you win, I can hook you up with my younger sister. Just for you her lobola will come down from R200 000 to R100 000.
Charisma 9/10 – There’s really nothing to say about Charisma because she never disappoints.
Thabisa
9/10. Don’t you think Thabisa, Ntokozo and Zim could make a killer group? Great performance sisi.
Elimination As much as it was sad, it had to happen, 2 were eliminated.
Obviously if you have 3 contestants and only one of them is safe, you can’t address them individually. Thabo should have talked to all of them before announcing Shannon’s name. It was obvious that she was not safe after Thabo addressed her individually. Both did not deserve to be eliminated.
Lindelani – please bhuti next time get judges that will add substance to the panel. Everyone you’ve had as a judge so far hasn’t made any meaningful contribution to the show and contestants (except the Vocal coach)
I’m not voting for anyone this week because I’m going to REHAB for 2 weeks. Where’s JESUS AT when you NEED him?
Happy Monday.
