On Saturday night the High School Musical cast sang and danced their final show at Theatre On The Bay in Cape Town and last night (Monday, 1 September) Dineo and Mario were voted out in the third Results Show.

The pair leave behind the Top 8 who now go on to Johannesburg where Pieter Toerien’s Montecasino Theatre will be their home away from home until the Finale on 27 September.

The Results Show opened with the Top 10 reflecting back on their stay in Cape Town and included footage of their performance at the Canal Walk shopping centre this past Saturday, when they had the opportunity to meet their fans and sign autographs.

In a poll of radio listeners, Algoa fm’s Carol-Ann Kelleher predicted that Carmen and Lyle would be going home. For Cris Inglis from Kfm, Danni and Daniel were in the firing line; and Jacaranda fm’s Martin Bester said it would be Carmen and Mario.

The voting lines closed, votes were counted and Mario, Dineo, Darren and Carmen found themselves needing to sing for their lives.

Mario performed first, singing the High School Musical song, What I’ve Been Looking For. Backstage, in the green room, he spoke about his performance on Saturday night and agreed with the Creative Panel that it wasn't his best performance.

Dineo performed next, singing When There Was Me and You. She was barely able to speak to Dalen backstage, but said that she had done her best.

After Darren’s performance, he playfully begged Pieter Toerien to save him.

Carmen was the last to perform and told Dalen that she thought her singing and dancing was “up to standard” on Saturday.

Afterwards Pieter Toerien said that he was surprised to see Darren on the cut list and saved him. He noted that it was Dineo’s second time on the cut list, said that he didn’t think she believed in herself enough and saved Carmen instead.

The final 8 contenders will spend the week rehearsing acting scenes and contemporary pop hits for this Saturday's show that's based on theme Getcha Head In The Game ... which they all need to do if they hope to snatch the winning roles.

High School Musical's on M-Net on Saturday's at 19h00, with the Results Show on Monday's at 19h00.
