The saga continued last night on Death of a Queen : Maloro is seeing dead people, dodgy stock footage of crocodiles chow people for breakfast and the kingdom is set on a matriarch vs a patriarchy state. All I can say is goody good gum drops let the rumble begin.
Maloro’s character sunk to new lows yesterday and (yes Putla showed off more of his muscles again) with him try to consolidate and assert his power and legacy as king. From feeding poor ladies to crocodiles to desecrating the decaying queens corpse all in trying to assert his power. It seems in Maloro’s case power is like money, you can never have enough. The more money you have the more you want and Maloro’s case the more power he gets ,the more power he wants.
Now that he is king, he also wants to create his own dynasty and to be a rainmaker. Something the ancestors clearly seem not to be agreeing with, hence him seeing dead people and all. Which was a nice touch but I loved the angle that was made more overt during the celebration that the men seem to be very happy with a male rule than woman rule. The poor ladies at the party looked like female MDC supporters when Bob announced that he has won the election. This is very interesting to have such clashes around gender roles and the role of women right bang in the middle of woman’s month.
So the question still remains what will Maloro do to assert his new found Kingship and dynasty espiciallly now since the gods are not with him? Is Puno and the ladies of Mallowmetseng willing to let the legacy and dynasty of the queens to die out and play second fiddle to the kings and men? Hopefully we will know very soon.
