Goodbye And Good Ridings To Gugu And Andile

I'm so happy Gugu and Andile is over, i think of the Shakespeare In Mzansi series it was the worst and dullest of the lot. Let me count the ways o' Gugu and Andile bored me:
1. the leads had zero chemistry.
2. Andile was plain boring . He did not have the tortured soul the characte deserved.
3 How slow was the pacing in this drama, my goodness a tortoise could walk all the way to Durban faster than the pace of the story and development in Gugu and Andile.
 4. The overall look of the show was just pure pap,it looked really dull.A lot of stuff is shot of video and some to give it an od feeling but does not come off as dull as G'n A. Lets take when we were black,it was not shot with such a dull aesthetic. Entambeni although it was not brilliant but at least it was shot well.If i was sabc i would ask for my money back.
 5. Padding Padding Padding. The stretching of the drama to 7 episodes was excrutiating long. The whole thing could have been done in 4 episodes but i guess the writers thought they were on to something, so it needed more screen time, wrong!

I for onewon't miss G 'n A,all i have to say to them is good bye and good riddance and thank you for the dull moments.I shall never ever think of you again.
Death of Queen looks interesting,i  hope its not a let down like Gugu no Andile

Hi

Mina I enjoy these shakespear series but one things that bothers me is the endings, they are so anti-climax.

so anyone else feels the same/different about A n G

I agree it strethed on too long, but I didn't mind it as much as I minded the previous one, "Izingane zo Baba". Gugu's crying was theatrical(is that a word), I liked it.

As for the show as a whole...eish, I don't know, I kept waiting to see when and how they'd die, but like you say, it took too long to conclude. The acting was average, and I think the show would have generally been more enjoyable if it was in 4 parts.

P.S. Andile's little sister was adorable though, really cute little girl.

I never had the apetite for even one episode, i dont know why coz i am a huge fan of local productions, but this never interested me.

I've had a problem with Gugu noAndile since the first episode. Even my little crush on Romeo didnt help change my mind about this pathetic story... I just wanted to see how they were gon die, thats all...

I loved the 1st series of the shakespeare stories, but Ingane zobaba and this G& A were boring, but yesternite, I gotta confess, I cried & cried & cried & cried, it just hit some soft spot in me, I just cried, I was so sad, I loved them but I won't miss the show, it was so empty.  Maybe I got so emotional because it was true for me, some of my friends eNcala in Katlehong were killed during those wars eThokoza, I just missed them.  I don't understand which angle the shooting was trying to take - it was just plain duff.

Gugu's crying was theatrical Rene Gugu's cry convinced me of her loss, I was looking for something like that since Thembi struggled to shed a tear for her mother in Rhythm City ( I was really dissapointed wit that), so Gugu just sealed it for me.

Renegade

Yeah Felfel, I know we deal with loss differently, but I think when you are acting, you are supposed to potray the pain in the way she did...

Of all the Shakespeare stories, this has to be the dullest, i know these lead actors are new to the industry but hayi they still have a long way to go, i probably have to watch the last episode again, i thot Gugu's crying was not convincing at all!! I loved Mam' Lizzie though, especially on the day she died, i laughed so hard when she was telling those police that Gugu was not there, hihihihihi" Gugu not here baas" LOL! actually akuhlekisi nje, but she made it sound very funny.

Hehe, I suppose it must be the "black ppl don't read thing", coz if it was just a stone there, then maybe they thought some ppl wouldn't read it, and it'd just be a stone, whereas the kids being there, forces one to want to know what it is they are looking at...
LOL, i'm just trying to find a way to justify this, and it's not working, eish, I dont know Awelani, mabye the young couple are director's kids, it was their chance to be on TV...Lol
