Bond, James Bond 007 Special

Sabc 3 has decided to do a knock off of etv James Bond special.I say hooray miss money penny. All the classic bonds up to Pierce Brosnan are up for grabs, unfortuneatly SABC 3 won't be showing Casino Royale as part of the festival cause its still running on DSTV.

So for those who did not catch it the first time around what is there to look forward too, well let me take you down James bond lore through it leading man..

1st theres Sean Connery , he is the first (and some will argue) the best bond ever. He starred in the first five flicks and played Bond 6 times. My personal favourite is Goldfinger, from the delatable Pussy Galore . Laser beams  threatening to fry 007 balls ,thers so much to love about it.

Then there was the crowd pleaser also known as Roger Moore who gave bond his devil may care cavalier attitude that those who only met bond through Pierce Brosnan are well accustomed too. He also holds the record in playing Bond in 7 different flicks.

Then theres the mistep with George Lazzenby who was quickly replaced with Timothy Dalton who comes through as Bond in two flicks. One of my personal favourite bond flicks , License to kill. I think Dalton was a percusor to the direction that Daniel Craig has taken bond too. The more realistic less jokey and more ruthless Bond but it seems like he was too early in the angst and serious acting department in the 80's. So he did not last until good old Pierce Brosnan injected more of the Roger Moore attitude back to Bond.

Pierce Brosnan had a good run with golden eye, the world is not enough and die another day before the age of Daniel Craig starteedw. Which a lot of people say its the age of Jason Bourne as James Bond , cause Craigs Bond has gone the more angst violent and bloody route that would never ever happen to Pierces or Roger Moores bond.

so between all these bonds, thats about 20 movies, 22 if you count the Daniel Craigs  Casino Royale and the up coming Quantum of Solace. Theres been a lot of classic themesong, diamonds are forever, amen somebody. Some very very cool inventions from invisible cars, to exploding pens, to remote controlled vehicles, you name it bond has done it.
Plus Bond has had a lot of colourful villans from the infamous Oddjob with his bowler hat, to villans with iron teeth apltly named Jaws, to Bloufeld and his bald head and cat. Who Mike Meyers ripped off quite nicely in his Austin Powers movies.
Then theres the different ladies and cars, from the exotic to the mundane bond has ridden them both, pun intended.

But the great question has always been who was the greatest bond, well if you catch all 20 flicks you can answer that one for yourself, sweet.

My most fave Bond is coming up in November.Very very interesting angle and its a bit on the glam associated with Nouveau cinema.Firstly the book on which this one is based is a short story, which refers to the Mathematical formula someone developed on the diminishing levels of love because of infedility or any other reason.

Its one of those very rare books, its like sporting a bald headed eagle ko Tembisa.Great is Bond,tha-bang,but oh so many plebs are just philistines with no appreciation of finer things in life.

I mean, who wouldnt want to meet Pussy Galore???????????

true very pretentious i saw the teaser trailer for quantum of solace it looks cool. i like it at the end where bond shows up in a full suit, a machine gun and sunglasses, how cool is that.
felfel i thought some of the gadgets were cool but some were just dumb like the invisible car,or when the BMW made flips to avoid missiles in the tomorrow never dies.

I hear u thabang but remember they were trying to create something within the times or possibly a peak into the future, they not meant to be realistic tho' yeah, and no that was not an ad for BMW, buy tht BMW and u'll see wat will happen to u when u got a missile following ur ass......lol.........this is Bond afta all.

As a film maker tha-bang,you would know they are by def escapist and pretentious-thats how I love them.

While still at it,somebody please go hire a film FIDO.......and see what Im talking about.Outrageous plot, sacrilegeous, sarcastic and mind blowing.

And its not for the slapstick gang who enjoys Harold and Kumar

when u got a missile following ur ass......lol.........this is Bond afta all.
nah ur right felfel, the bond films are very audicious, its part of the fun.like the whole tank thing in golden eye, when brosnan demolishes moscow city centre with an armoured tank.pure classic
but i like the new direction though mixing the bond cool with the grittyness of jason bourne,i think its supercool

lepogo i think thats why they've actually toned down on the antics cause bond was starting to look and feel more and more like an action spoof.like when brosnan would ran out of an exploding building with a white t shirt, and it'll come out pure white after his ducking and diving.
i know the far fetchedness of bond is part of the appeal but it was getting dated.
