Sies SABC sport, sies ma. someone should sue them for bridge of promise after last nights fiasco were they did not broadcast the 1st Euro quarterfinal, sies. The worst part is that the SABC did not inform us,the soccer loving public that, they wont be broadcasting all their games. a friend of mine says they've only paid for two quarterfinals instead of the whole four, and one semi final and the final.
Whilst they've been claiming to bringing us Euro 2008 with the fancy campaigners ,liars!
Sies,SABC is a sham and a phoney, a has been that lacks intergrity and innovation. Why did they not come clean from the on set instead of shocking the public yesterday with no broadcast.when people are expecting a live broadcast, only those of us weve dstv could watch the game whilst sabc had promised to broadcast it to the masses.
if sabc was a competent organisations, heads would roll but sabc being sabc.life will just go on as normal.but im disgusted and utterly shcked by the work ethic and treatment the sabc hands out to its viewers.sies on you

>>The worst part is that the SABC did not inform us,the soccer loving public that, they wont be broadcasting all their games<<

Actually they did.  If you take a look at the revised schedule they released, it shows that there was no Euro 2008 match scheduled for last night.  The schedule in the newspaper and on the online TV guide also both showed that there was no match on.  So while you can criticise them for not showing all the matches, I don't think you can criticise them for not letting people know, as it was pretty clear that they probably weren't going to show last night's match.

Something odd happened to that link.  Here's the URL of SABC3's schedule:

well i actually saw the tv guide and i thought it was mistaken citanul but they could have announced it either through the presenters or have some form of a scroll to make the matter more visible.
but ive invested in DSTV and im officially not relying on SABC for anything from now on

Citanul

>>well i actually saw the tv guide and i thought it was mistaken<<

But if you'd seen the TV guide then shouldn't you have been prepared for the possibility that there was no match?  You weren't explicitly told that the match would be shown - if that had happened then I think you would have a case.

>>they could have announced it either through the presenters or have some form of a scroll to make the matter more visible<<

Each evening at more than one point SABC3 shows what's coming up that evening, and later on they show what's coming up the following evening.  So it would have been revealed then that they weren't showing the match, and I don't think they should have been required to do anything more.  It's not as if it was a last minute change as it was made known in advance that there was no match.

No Citanul the bang has the right to his opinion bcoz realy SABC sucks whether they did announce it or not the bang is right the presenters should have made the announcement this is Euro they should take it seriously not every1 has Dstv.

>>whether they did announce it or not the bang is right the presenters should have made the announcement<<

But why?  If it's in the TV guide and in the usual run through of the evening's schedule then isn't that sufficient?

What you're asking for is that the presenters announce that they're not going to show something that was never scheduled to be shown.  That makes absolutely no sense to me.

If at any stage SABC3 had said that they were going to show the match then yes, they should have announced that it's not going to be on.  But as far as I can tell there was never any indication that the match would be shown.

Right there, you have hit the nail on the coffin.

but aleast they tried this time around.
Can't argue with that.

Agreed. There was no need then from SABC3 to apologise.

Yeah. imagine the presenters saying there won't be Survivor tonight at 7pm. For all the other people that KNOW this, it would seem pretty ridiculous to announce something that's obvious to them.

Tha-bang must admit he made a mistake by blaming the SABC for not meeting his expectations.

What you're asking for is that the presenters announce that they're not going to show something that was never scheduled to be shown. That makes absolutely no sense to me. when sabc was advertising that they were going to show the EURO 2008 , they never made it explicit that they wont be showing ALL the games.
if a channel says they are going to show the 6th season of lost you expect to see ALL the episodes not just 09 out of the 12. This is what irked me. The fact that they knew from the onset that they wont be broadcasting all the games and they did not make it a point to make sure that the viewer is totaly informed of their plans.

but not everybody knows this.
anyhow this whole fiasco with none broadcasting of certain games just goes to show how pathetic sabc is. for those who are willing to take its mediocre standards, they'll see nothing with whats going on right now.well good for you.but im expecting something better from a broadcaster when it says its bringing me a tournament. that it brings the broadcasts in all it's  glory, but i guess the SABC public is used to half measures no wonder theres no outcry
Sjoe, you were upset Tha-bang, you said "sies" 5 times heheheh

>>when sabc was advertising that they were going to show the EURO 2008 , they never made it explicit that they wont be showing ALL the games.<<

They may never have come out and said, "We're not showing all the games", but a look at the schedule should have made it clear that they weren't showing all of them.  And even if you didn't look at the schedule, the fact that they only ever showed one game a night, even when there were two matches on  the same day should have tipped you off.

>>they did not make it a point to make sure that the viewer is totaly informed of their plans<<

I don't think you can say that.  They did release the revised schedule (which I linked to in an earlier message) and the guides both online and in the newspaper were correct.  So they definitely did inform the viewers.

this should of tipped me off that they willbroadcast only 2 of the four quarterfinals that play on separate days and times.please lets get real.at l
And even if you didn't look at the schedule, the fact that they only ever showed one game a night, even when there were two matches on the same day should have tipped you off.
sabc has been doing that with all other tournaments but this is a first whereby instead of showing only 1 game that played that  day they decide not to show anything at all. there has never been such a precedent. they'd at least show one of the quarterfinals that play in that day because they cant broadcast two games at the same time
They did release the revised schedule (which I linked to in an earlier message) and the guides both online and in the newspaper were correct. So they definitely did inform the viewers.
Citanul lets just agree to disagreecause ur hell bent on that the scheduling was enough whilst i think it wasnt.and as a viewer i feel that i was not informed and u think u were.so be it.
@toxic nah i didnt see it on friday, but i'll ask pule on how it went and the funding and i'll get back to u

>>this should of tipped me off that they willbroadcast only 2 of the four quarterfinals that play on separate days and times<<

No, but it should have tipped you off that it was necessary to check the schedule in advance to see just which matches were on.  That would have revealed that not all of the quarter-finals would be shown.

>>there has never been such a precedent<<

Yes there has - for both the Cricket and Rugby World Cups the SABC didn't show all the matches.

>>Citanul lets just agree to disagreecause ur hell bent on that the scheduling was enough whilst i think it wasnt<<

It does look like we'll have to agree to disagree.  But I still don't see why every published schedule stating that there was no match scheduled to be shown that day is not enough.

hey toxic pule finaly replied, he says the screeening went well on friday . The place was full to capacity . they were expecting 300 people.500 showed up and they actually had to turn people back. He is now in negotiations with ster kinekor to let the film run for at least 5 more days.
on the production side he did not get any help or buying into from ochre media or the show zola 7 but he says Zola and his Guluva entertainment let him use their recording studio for voice overs.which was nice of mzolisto.other than that he paid for everything else himself.
