After recording this weeks episode, I switched on the TV at the precise moment where Gareff Cliff was prophesizing over Jody's future; and decided there and then that I would watch the program and NOT listen to a single thing the judges say.
That way I can make up my own mind about the performances and as a bonus, I don't have to listen to Gareffs musings.
My thoughts: Brief, for once.
Munro : I suppose he could sing twinkle twinkle and I would still love him. I think he did extremely well, started a bit slow but towdally rocked after that! A firm fav of mine and I've already oted a few times for him.
Daniel : Sanjaya's second cousin. The vocals weren't too strong but I enjoyed it. He's just so cute, you can't help but like him. Would definately like to see much more him.
Yolanda : Not confident and it came through in her song and actions. Her vocals were just too weak and she's in my bottom 3 this week.
Tender : I loved her performance. Not oversung and did not continuously play for the camera. Right on the money!
Dominic : I don't even want to comment. Was just too painful to watch. Shame man. Into the bottom 3 you go.
Andriette : I was sceptical because I'm not a Celine Dion fan but she was very VERY good. I like her because she has a unique tone to her voice and she can hold all her notes. Unlike some other contestants...
Caroline : I like her energy and her vibe. May not be the strongest vocally, but she has something about her that i absolutely adore.
Bjorn: I thought Bjorn sounded very good but I don't like the way he comes across. He's way too arrogant. There's a difference between confidence and arrogance and he has crossed the line. And that walk, he thinks it's a strut but it's more like a waddle. Smarten up boytjie, people don't like braggarts. You can go far if you don't overplay it.
Carla : Carla, Carla, Carla. She looked spastic at times and I wasn't enjoying that throaty screeching at all. Especially those first 2 opening ones. Nothing about her performance was good. Up to and including those yellow shoes. Bottom 3 chick.
Jody : OK - what's with all the Jody overkill?
Maybe it's because I simply hate the song she sang but I DO NOT GET IT.
When Gareff gets that oh-wise-one look on his face, I truly want to hurl. Preferably hurl something at his head. And that cryptic comment about her going to win and him not wanting her to. Message to Gareff: Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
I like Jody, I really do. I just don't think that performance was all that.
Oh, and I LOVE the new set. It looks absolutely fab and the contestants used it to the best of their ability.
Which reminds me. Please shoot their choreographer. Some waddled, others flayed their arms about and one was having spastic fits on that beautiful new stage. They have enough problems with choosing perfect songs, remembering lyrics and acid judges and don't need to worry about crappy dance moves.
