Veronica (Kristen Bell) and her boyfriend Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring) are now freshmen at Hearst College, the sun drenched campus where dorm parties and all night cram sessions are the order of the day.
They’re here to leave behind the ghosts of their past and move on to an exciting college life, but it soon becomes clear that some ghosts are here to stay. Even their high school graduation was marred when Veronica’s unlikely ally, Eli "Weevil" Navarro (Francis Capra) was arrested and dragged out of the ceremony in handcuffs.
Add the increasingly dangerous private detective business run by Veronica’s father Keith (Enrico Colantoni), and her growing reputation as a girl who can fix the unfixable, students soon realize that Hearst College has never before faced a student like Veronica Mars.
Veronica is in true form from the moment she sets foot on the campus of her new college. Wallace, Veronica’s old friend, enlists her help when his new roommate, Piz (guest star Chris Lowell), finds out that all of his belongings have been stolen.
While working on Piz's case, Veronica learns that a campus serial rapist has struck again. Meanwhile, Keith gets into trouble while transporting a recently released convict across the country to reunite him with Kendall (recurring guest star Charisma Carpenter).
