Five reasons to watch On the Lot tonight

A new reality series is starting tonight on SABC2. For a cool rundown, read Tashi’s article about it here. Here’s five reasons why I’m going to watch it.

1.Mark Burnett usually knows what he’s doing.
He’s been involved in hit reality shows like Survivor, The Apprentice and Rockstar, and he doesn’t usually disappoint. I'm a fan.

2. SABC2 pulled off a great feat by getting this to us just 8 weeks after it premiered in the US.
They deserve to be encouraged, so as to keep up this excellent work, and the way to do that is to give them great viewing figures. Carrots work better than sticks.

3. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, “artsy” types who have a “vision” and “creative integrity” make for grand reality viewing.
They’re much more interesting than business types, such as those in The Apprentice for instance. They feud and have hysterics and bitch at each other beautifully.  For reference, see Top Chef and Project Runway.

4. It’s going to be super-cool seeing how a movie is made and the whole process works.
I love Hollywood and I’m sure there’ll be interesting guest appearances in the show.

5. I’m totally into good reality shows.
I don’t like lower quality shows (read: crap) like Cheaters etc, but I predict that On the Lot promises a lot of fun and interest – in a high quality way. If you are into this, I suggest you join me in front of SABC2 at 19:30.

See you on the lot!
