The first Inaugural South African Film and Television Academy Awards nominations were announced on September 28th, honouring the creative talent of South African Film and Television creators.

Curious Pictures, one of South Africa's top television production houses, swept the board, receiving the highest number of nominations attributed to a single company (24) and the highest to any drama show (13 nominations for its drama series, Hard Copy).

Only comedy City Ses'la by Black Brain Pictures received more nominations - 14.

All but two of Curious Pictures' 25 nominations were for drama series.

The Lab - which recently ended its first season on SABC3 as the top-rated local show by TVSA readers - was not included for consideration as it fell outside of the time frame.

At the SAFTA nominee announcements last Thursday, Curious Pictures was awarded 24 nominations in 16 categories by the judging panels, consisting of industry professionals, journalists, and academics.

"We are very gratified by the recognition of our work, which is testimony to the efforts of the many talented people we have had the privilege to work with", said David Jammy, managing director of Curious Pictures, in a press statement.
