Season 3
The Wife is a South African telenovela inspired by characters and events from the Hlomu book series by Dudu Busani-Dube - Hlomu the Wife, Zandile the Resolute and Naledi His Love - which follow the lives of the eight Zulu brothers, a formidable crime family, through the eyes of the wives they marry.
This season centres on two star-crossed lovers: Tswana doctor Naledi Montsho and Zulu taxi driver Qhawe.
Gaisang K Noge (House of Zwide) stars as Naledi opposite Kwenzo Ngcobo as Qhawe.
The new season picks up with the Zulu brothers' crimes now front page news – and Naledi kidnapped.
Wiseman Mncube replaces Bonko Khoza in the role of Mqhele Zulu, the abusive, ice-cream loving husband of Hlomu (Mbalenhle Mavimbela).
Hlomu and Mqhele's love story remains complicated this season, in a relationship described as "dark and abusive" and "deep into toxic love".
In addition to Mncube, new cast members this season include Sello Motloung as Naledi's father, Kgosi; Stoan Seate as Sefako, Qhawe's rival for Naledi; Lungelo Mpangase as Xoli, Sambulo's love interest; Mo Setumo as Tshidi, Naledi's older sister; Sello Ramolahloane as Molefi; and Terrence Ngwila as Detective Baloyi.
Season 3 of The Wife is a Showmax Original Production, executive produced for Stained Glass TV by Gugu Zuma-Ncube and Pepsi Pokane; and for Coalstove Pictures by Wandile Molebatsi.
The series producer for Season 3 is Kamogelo Aphane and the head writer is Busisiwe Ntintili.
The directors this season include Fikile Mogodi, Tebogo Mkhabela, Luthando Mngomezulu and Stephina Zwane.
