Season 5

Married... with Children is an American television sitcom created by Michael G. Moye and Ron Leavitt about shoe salesman Al Bundy who raises a dysfunctional family in Chicago.

The series originally aired in the USA on FOX from 5 April, 1987 to 9 June, 1997. There are 262 hal-hour episodes in 11 seasons.

Married... with Children originally aired in South Africa on M-Net, during Open Time. It later aired on DStv's M-Net Series channel.

Season 5 premiered on M-Net Series on Saturday 10 October 2009, at 18h30. There are 25 episodes in the fifth season.

Season 5

The show follows the lives of Al Bundy, a once-glorious high school football player turned hard-luck salesman of women's shoes; his wife, Peggy, a tartish, uneducated housewife with a large red bouffant hairdo, 1960s clothes and funny walk caused by wearing high heels; Kelly, Al and Peggy's pretty, promiscuous, dim-witted daughter; and Bud, their unpopular, girl-crazy, intelligent son (and the only Bundy who ever attended college).

Their neighbours are the upwardly-mobile Steve and Marcy Rhoades. (Marcy later marries Jefferson D'Arcy.)

Most storylines involve a scheming Al being foiled by his cartoonish dim wit and bad luck. His rivalry and loathing of Marcy also play a significant role in most episodes.

The less-than-lovable Bundys are a radical departure from the saccharine-sweet TV families popular since the days of Father Knows Best.

With offbeat humour and unflinching honesty, Married with Children paints a more realistic picture of middle-class existence, warts and all.

Married With Children returns for Season 5. Last season ended with Al having a yard sale after discovering that Peggy had purchased a whole lot of junk - but nobody purchased a single item.

In the first episode of the new season: Al and Kelly pretend to be sick in order to avoid going with Peggy and Bud to Wanker County, but Kelly ends up really getting sick and Al has to care for her for the entire week - which interrupts Al's fantasies of being with two beautiful women.
